I bought my dog here back in 2023. When I went in, I wasn't expecting to take a dog home but I managed to find the perfect dog for me! The staff helped me get paper work done fast and were helpful. If you have the chance and want to adopt a pet from the shelter, I'd recommend coming here and doing so :)

See comment for (IMO) awesome picture of my adoptee (the husky) with current dog (the hound beagle mix). It's her 1 week anniversary of being in forever home courtesy of West Valley Animal Shelter. They were worried first about how Lilly would do in a new home and with my other dog. But 1 week later she's responding to love and has place of forever home. EVERYONE at shelter was amazing and helped me find my new girl. They were friendly, knowledgeable and considerate and this is such a good news story so thanks all! Please please, get a shelter pet from them and listen to the (mostly) gals that work there. They know their stuff in a very difficult place to work at!

I went in looking to adopt a dog and the lady at the front desk acted like I was asking to look through their personal records. She said I could only view the dogs online and couldn’t meet them. The website only has one picture of the dogs (sometimes it’s not even a clear picture) and no description. It’s pretty difficult to decide on a dog without any knowledge of the temperament or how the dog acts. This shelter doesn’t seem to care about getting the dogs adopted, it’s really sad. Update: I was able to get a really good dog from there, they had a lot of good ones and it was hard to decide. It’s still difficult to get an appointment, but once you are able to do that. The adoption process goes pretty painlessly. If you have the time and can come in during their small window of adoption hours, it is pretty nice.

I’m always seeing posts about how this shelter needs food donations and how over-run with dogs they are..well maybe if the staff that worked there were not unfriendly miserable humans more people would want to adopt and donate. Took a big bag of dog food to them, and they acted like they could care less.

Pathetic department. Not sure it deserves taxpayers' money. These people didn't do anything regarding dog barking problem in the neighborhood. They wasted hours and hours of my time in writing up a log and in the end didn't do anything on it. Do your job! Deserves negative points if I could give.

We are so impressed with this shelter and especially Tess!! We got to our appointment to see a dog we really wanted and someone was adopting her at that point and we were heartbroken. Tess showed us another dog that we fell in love with but we had to wait to see if the owner would claim her. Tess kept us informed and let us know when the 7 days was up and no one had claimed her. We went right down and met her and she was a perfect fit for us!! We are so excited with our new baby!! Tess is so wonderful and really kept her word and made this happen for us. We are so grateful!!
