Description For more than 25 years, Bittersweet Pet Resorts has provided a loving, safe, and enriching environment for dogs and cats in the South Bend, Indiana and lower Michigan areas. We provide veterinarian-recommended overnight dog boarding, dog daycare, dog grooming, and dog training. Between our dedicated staff, individualized care, and spacious facilities, we’re all about wags and purrs.

I had nothing short of the best experience with Bittersweet a few weeks ago. It was my dog’s first time staying there, and she loved the staff so much, she had to give everyone hugs before I took her home! I boarded her for 2 nights, and she got a nice little spa day during her stay! I hate being away from my baby, and I opted to get pictures and updates each day she was there. The pictures they took of her playing outside really eased my anxiety, and it looked like she had so much fun playing with all of her new friends. Sage will definitely be back soon! Our bullmastiff, Annie, has enjoyed kennel stays before, but she's REALLY looking forward to her next "vacation" at Bittersweet Pet Resorts in Niles. She came home super tired and super happy; and my husband and I are totally grateful for the care she got. When checking in, the staff put all my concerns (about preventing her tendency toward knee issues) put into "notes" into her "folder." Annie girl did not return home with any knee pain or with any signs that she played too hard. The daily pictures were well worth the extra $5/day, along with the "report cards" that gave us many laughs. I especially liked when those arrived a little earlier. Thank you so much. Took our 2 mini bernedoodles to get groomed for the 1st time. They did SUCH an amazing job and the pig tails they put on them are soooooo cute! Told them what we wanted and she did an even better job than we expected. Definitely recommend and will be going back. Staff was very friendly and nice.

Wonderful people took care of our corgis and their first time to a groomer. (They’re are 1 year old each). Clean and cute puppies!

Had our puppy Doberman stay for a few days while we went to out of town. 10/10 definitely recommend! We had daily updates with several pictures and that gave us peace of mind due to her being a puppy. She was a happy puppy when we got her! We got her the puppy package and was totally worth it! We most definitely will be back!

I am a current employee of Bittersweet Pet Resort. This review is written from my perspective as a staff member. I am in no way being asked or directed to do so- rather, I am sharing my own thoughts and feelings about the business from an alternative point of view. As a Pet Care Technician, we are being trusted to take care of someone else’s family members, to give them the best treatment, to ensure that they are safe, comfortable, and content. Our group playtimes are probably my favorite activity, seeing all of the different personalities puts a smile on my face. I love my job and I love interacting with the animals; however, there is much more to it than that. Getting to know each pet as an individual is the key to success. Bittersweet Pet Resort provides each of their staff members fundamental education surrounding the canine species, elements of their behavior and through training, how to handle them safely and correctly. Bittersweet Pet Resort has provided me with a variety of opportunities to continue to grow as an individual, and continue to advance my necessary life skills, including: communication, handling finances, cleanliness, advances of proper management and organization, as will as the importance behind dedication and teamwork. When I leave for work every day, I know I have a purpose. I know these dogs and cats are away from the comfort of home, and I know that they are depending on me. It gives every day true meaning and something to look forward to. As a staff member of Bittersweet Pet Resort, I can confidently state that we go above and beyond for each, Individual pet in our care, because WE care. If we didn't, our doors would be closed and we would not have been open for over 25 years. I invest 100% of my effort into ensuring their well-being, and my goal is to make sure every pet feels loved just as they would at home. I always enjoy sending report cards home, containing funny pictures and videos to worried parents, knowing it puts their minds at ease. I take pride in working at Bittersweet because we all share that goal as team members. Thank you to our Owner, Sandy Stern Krebs, our Chief of Operations Chloe James and the rest of the management staff for creating an environment in which every pet and staff member can thrive.
