Description Shadow Cats TNR (fka Best Friends in Harford County) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the animals in need in Harford County, MD. Our mission is to establish and manage programs for the welfare of community cats, companion animals, and pet owners needing assistance, in collaboration with other rescue groups and shelters. If you are interested in adopting please note that we do not have a facility so, we rely heavily on foster homes and satellite adoption centers within local pet stores. Information on our adoptable cats can be found on our website.

We had the best experience with Maria and team. My favorite part is how much they put into making sure the cats were a good fit for us. Highly recommend!
Shadow TNR is a great company to adopt from. I worked as a volunteer a few years ago and I got to personally meet some of the fosters and workers. They all deeply care about the cats and ensuring they are safe. I adopted my kitten from them and it was a great experience. They were open about her personality and answered all the questions I had.
Adopted Gypsy (AKA Annie Oakley). Thank you Genie and the foster parents. They were so kind and we can always contact them. Gypsy is so very sweet and we love her. She has her older brothers wrapped around her paw! 😻😻😻
I was looking for an inexpensive way to get my male cat fixed as he is almost 7 months old. I was extremely surprised to start receiving emails the very next day with appointment times available for the following day. I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the emails have stopped after the first 4 days. I didn't have the money during those 4 days, so I still need the information on appointments to get my cat fixed and vaccinated. Update: Shadow Cats replied and has informed me how to keep the emails coming. I will reply to an email & if they keep communicating appointments with me so I can get Phantom fixed, I will update my review to 5 stars. They really seem like nice people who really care.
BFHC has an amazing group of volunteers and always puts the cats needs first. I have been fostering for them for a little while now and they really take the time to make sure the cats are healthy, taken care of, and placed with a good home. I had the opportunity to work with kittens, shy cats, and "grouchy" cats and the coordinators always checked in on their progress and answered any questions or concerns I had about them. The people who make all this possible at BFHC really go above and beyond for these animals and it has been so nice to see this organization run from the inside to know that the people are so genuine and caring about the welfare of these cats.
Awesome! They will come to you and trap stray cats, nueter or spay, give shots, and then release back into the wild. This practice keeps the stay population down, keeps them out of kill shelters and allows them to live their life out as they are accustomed. Please write your state officials and ask that they fund this operation, as now they rely on donations, which I'm sure barely keeps them in medicine for the felines. Hard working people with a heart of gold.
