Description Progress 4 Paws offers positive reinforcement based dog training services. Owner Alison Schaefer, CPDT-KA, ABCDT, has over 10 plus years of experience working with dogs and their owners. Alison is an AKC Canine Good Citizen and Trick dog evaluator, and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT). She has 4 dogs who she participates in a variety of dog sports and activities with. Progress 4 Paws mission is to connect dogs and people. Offering in home private sessions and online training courses through HappyTails University.

Allison at Progress 4 Paws is the real deal when it comes to dog training, she has been able to successfully train our beagles which I originally thought was impossible. We are primarily training our 2 year old female beagle; from basic manners, to more advanced safety commands like "wait", to tricks like "shake" and "spin". She's even accomplished to teach our senior beagles to sit and stay, which proves you can teach an old dog new tricks. Allison is very positive, warm, and friendly, she will be very gentle and patient with your dog until they get it. While this is training for your dog, it's also training for the owner, making sure we feel comfortable and knowledgeable on carrying out commands with our dogs. Allison is even gentle on us humans, when we may be hard on ourselves. Allison understands and recognizes each dog breed is different and will train specifically to your dog's breed. She knows beagles are more food driven than anything else, where another dog might live for toys, balls, or praise. She comes to our home to make the dog feel comfortable and it makes it easier on us to learn, because there are less distractions in our own home. She gives us the knowledge and tools we need to practice outside our home and when she is not there. Our 2yo beagle knows, sit, down, stay, spin, and wait after three sessions. I am so thankful that I found Alison & Progress 4 Paws! When I took on my foster pup, Mama, she had a few quirks! Upon, our first meeting, Alison made both Mama & I at ease and quickly assessed a plan for her! She started off with building blocks to create the foundation to success! Mama likes other dogs but has what is called, leash reactivity! After 4 weeks, there has been an incredible improvement! She is so much more happy and being her best self! I have been in the rescue/shelter dog business for nearly 8 years and by far, Alison is one of the best I have met! I wholeheartedly recommend her for any behavioral issues your pup might have or just looking for them to put their best paw first! Plus, she trained me too!🤣

Allison at Progress 4 Paws is an incredible trainer. She is so knowledgeable and kind. She provided such helpful information regarding training our Golden Retriever puppy. Each visit with her left us with incredible nuggets of information which she even wrote down so we could review again later. We are so much better off having Allison help train our puppy. There is a big difference in our puppy compared to when we started with Allison. You can’t go wrong with Progress 4 Paws!

Alison was great! She helped train my puppy, teaching, not only her, but me so much. It was a great experience because she would arrive at my place & help train my puppy so that, my pup, was even more comfortable within her natural surroundings. This is my first puppy & I was very inexperienced and by working with her, I have learned how to build a strong & fun relationship with my pup! I definitely recommend Alison & Progress 4 Paws

Alison has been training my furry kids (and me) for the past 7 years. She is a compassionate, committed, talented, patient, gentle and FUN trainer. When Alison shows up at my house she gets a party thrown every time. My furry kids LOVE her! Alison's approach respects each dog as an individual and understands not all dogs respond equally. She takes the time to really get to know you and your dog and designs a program that suits both of you and your goals. With Alison's help and dedication I was able to become a Pet Partners therapy team with my 2 year old Golden Retriever, Bowie. We received the highest possible score and are rated as a "complex" team able to handle all situations. We cherish Alison and all she has done for our family.

Alison is an amazing trainer and has helped us solve multiple issues with our Black Lab pup. He now walks off leash without any issues, responds to our commands and is a lot calmer in stressful situations. And Alison does this out of love for the animal and uses a positive reinforcement method which our pup responded to immediately. Cannot recommend her enough. And not only is she great with our pet, but she is a wonderful person to hang out with. Five stars is not enough.
