Great place to adopt a pet. They have all kind of animals ranging from dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice to hens, chickens and goats. The staff there are phenomenal, thoughtful. There was an older woman with a cane there today visiting Tim the cat today and the staff was kind enough to bring in a chair for her to sit in. It such small acts of kindness I like to see. I was there and Alicia helped me. She is so very knowledgeable, helpful, kind and patient with us. She made us felt so welcome. Thank you so very much!

I went to their spay waggin for my cats. While one of them was healing nicely, the other was struggling a lot and ended up with an infection. They listened to my concerns without judgement and saw me as soon as they opened. They even gave me a number to text them photos or ask any questions that may come up. If I’m ever on the market to adopt/spay, or know anyone who is, I’ll definitely mention this place!!! It’s so refreshing to see vets and workers who still have a passion for the animals they care for!!!! Thank you!!!

I adopted my kitty here last week. I visited a few times before I found him and each time I found the staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable about all of the animals. The facility is modern and clean and it is clear that the folks there put a lot of time and effort into making it comfortable and welcoming for both the animals and their adopters. He wasn't thrilled about the car ride home (expected), but once I got him back he immediately came into his own and started charging around the house with no adjustment period whatsoever. I'd like to believe that this confidence was at least partially due to the love he received at the Dedham ARL before I adopted him. He's been a wonderful friend so far and I'm glad we were brought together here!

I haven't met a harder-working, more compassionate group of animal lovers than the staff and volunteers here. This place is truly worth a visit (and your support!). The barn and paddocks alone are lovely novelties you don't normally have at a shelter.

Cutest old pet cemetery there! One is next to the parking lot, another, older one is up the side road next to the building. We spent a long time wandering around the upper, wooded cemetery. My son found it online as we were passing through on a road trip. Super darling!

My boyfriend recently adopted Autumn (formerly Kay) a 3 month old kitten from this facility. Not only is she adorable but she's already warmed up to us and even crawled into bed with us the first night he had her. Annabelle helped my boyfriend every step of the way and the adoption process was extremely simple & easy. The facility was impeccably clean and I would highly recommend adopting an animal from this location. My only complaint about our experience (and not enough to deduct a star) was that the manner in which Autumn's behavior was described. We were told she was "under socialized & a chronic hider" and I agree with the hiding. I don't know if it's just because she found her forever home and is adjusting so quickly but we found she interacted with us shortly after bringing her home. We just felt that they "made a mountain out of a molehill" about her behavior. And again she might have been different while she was kept mostly contained and is just flourishing at home. But I just wanted to mention it in case these statements might deter you from adopting, chances are once they are in their forever home they will adjust. If you can afford to, are responsible & are looking for some animal companionship - check out rescue animals in your area & I suggest starting with the ARL nearest you.
