Our wonderful little Pomeranian went into congestive heart failure at 10:00 PM on Friday night. We quickly got him in our car and headed towards Southwest Animal Hospital. On our way we called the hospital and explained what was happening. They said they would be ready when we arrived. A couple minutes prior to our arrival our Pomeranian had passed away. When we arrived the staff quickly took our Pomeranian and asked if they could perform CPR. They performed CPR and brought him back to life. Over the next 3 days they had him in an oxygen chamber and nursed him back. He is now home with us and is doing wonderfully. The Dr. has put him on some various medications for his condition but for the most part he is back to his usual self. Southwest Animal Hospital is an absolutely amazing place with a staff of doctors and nurses who will do anything to save your loved one. We owe a huge amount of gratitude to Southwest Animal Hospital.
My Cocobear was attacked and bitten by a dog at our regular vets office and we rushed her into this ER. We called ahead w story. I walked in, a vet tech came out, confirmed her name, and took her straight to the back. The warmth and gentleness of this handoff was calming. I was a total hot mess of tears but immediately felt I was in the right place. Within minutes he came back to chat and I knew my babygirl would be ok. He went over possible costs and detailed the process. He showed compassion and kindness I’ve never seen at a vet before. I actually HAD to tell him he was adorable and awesome.. I wish I could remember his name to give a true shout out here. Every staff member who came out, or just walked past me offered me comfort, knew my CocoBear’s name and assured me she was okay. Dr. Peters came to speak to me, gave me detailed info, comforted me and gave me enough peace to leave the office, go home and shower (had blood on me) while the procedure was done and come back in a couple hours to pick up my girl. From the moment I got there to the moment we left with our sweetheart I was calmed, and cared for. I am beyond happy with this place and highly recommend bringing your furkid if you’re in need of immediate care. Letting them know details ahead of arriving by phone is also recommended. This expedited the treatment and it seems everyone on the job was informed before we even got there!
I would love giving a review to Thank each and every wonderful, loving, caring, gentle amazing staff during the day shift and overnight ER staff, techs and every individual at SWFla Vet. Dr Wendleburg for her amazing surgery and treating my precious 8 year old chihuahua Adrienne for surgery on both her back legs She had luxating patella surgery. They gave her (and me) such love, respect and the utmost attention I am beyond pleased and grateful to all. I wish I could remember everyone’s names. Liz, Beth, Duli, Eli, Michelle, Dr Stacey and I believe Dawn? If I made an error or missed your name I’m forever grateful. 💕💕💕 with Love Judy A
Cannot explain how thankful we are for everyone involved in our baby’s care. Far from home and not knowing what to do, they guided and helped us the whole way. Very empathetic and truly cares for your babies just as their own. Would recommend them to anyone in the area for any emergency care needed for your animal! They truly saved our baby’s life. Also, they are very honest, you will not get charged for something that is not needed, we were given an estimated cost of care, and when we picked up our pup we were refunded for what was not done, and it was a significant amount!
Small Dog Z was brought in for a 6-mo evaluation on heart issue. I declined the re-check procedures that would cost $700. The staff charged me $170 for staying in the room and Dr came and talk to me for 10min / not touched or examined my dog. Regardless whether my dog is being examined or not the Dr needs to get paid per the staff. I was forced to let them take my dog for a standard exam (I could have this standard exam done at my dog’s VCA cheaper or included in the annual membership) and paid $140 instead. I tried explaining that my dog can be seen by his dr at VCA for a standard exam and I don’t want specialist pricing. They told me I have to pay regardless $170 or $140. What a horrible way to be a vet!!!! I paid $140 and I will stay away from this office!
Southwest Florida Veterinary Specialists are top notch. They have treated two of our animals since moving to Florida in February. They will not charge you for service your pet doesn’t need. Very honest people. So thankful to the staff. They’re very knowledgeable about how to quickly treat your animals sickness. I honestly can’t say enough about them. I’d give them 10 stars if I could. It makes our hearts feel at ease knowing they’re in the hands of the BEST!!!! THANK YOU
