Sent us through the whole adoption process. Got approved and proceeded to let us spend an hour and bond with a kitten. Tells us nevermind, because we bring our cat out on a leash, knowingly beforehand. Know your own rules and let your people before wasting our time and hurting us. Other than this... The woman volunteering for this organization located in Rensselaer is a sweetheart! Only apply if you have indoor cats only. Not even leashed cats are allowed.

I adopted my big boy Red from AnímaLovers tonight. My entire experience was wonderful. Everyone in that organization was kind and helpful.

I wish I could leave 0 stars. This is the most disorganized, unprofessional shelter experience I’ve ever had. We were called from a private number and told the cat we had applied for, 4 days before, was available and ready for us. But when we arrived to pick him up he had been promised to another family as well because they “got there first”. After reading other reviews I see this isn’t an isolated experience. If you’re going to run on a first come first serve basis, you should not be contacting people and confirming they get to adopt. The woman running the shelter had NO idea what was going on and who had been called, and didn’t seem to care to fix the issue when we explained we had been contacted first. She continued to be condescending, going as far to laugh at us and tell us “this will make a great review” after we tearfully explained our situation. I hope for the best for the animals at this place because they’re being taken care of by completely careless individuals. EDIT: We were contacted again, after the shelter is closed and by a private number, to have a member of this establishment attempt to condescend further by explaining why we didn’t get the cat we were expecting. Calling people on blocked numbers is even more unprofessional and at this point it’s baffling this place is still in business.

I only put one star because I am forced to provide one, otherwise they'd receive none. We applied for a kitten a week ago and received a call today at 4:06pm telling us we'd been approved to adopt that kitten. At first I was not sure of our ability to adopt this same day, but we adjusted and made it work. But when I tried to call the woman back I could not because she had used a no called ID (unprofessional and sketchy) so I contacted the petsmart to tell the adoption center we had made it work and we would be there early. Instead we arrived and the woman there had already promised the kitten to a different family because she "saw them first". We explained but were shunned to the side as this family got to meet the kitten before us and take him home. We were then told we could "watch them fill out the adoption papers so the process would make sense" to us, as though we had no concept of how paperwork works. It was horribly depressing, unprofessional, rude, and worst of all the representative at the adoption center was clearly favoring them and was unable to even keep the names of the cats at the center straight in her head. Horribly unprofessional organization with sketchy contact methods, rude volunteers, and a terrible moral and ethical code to potential parents of these wonderful kitties. I hope they get their act together but my experience today makes me worry they have zero concept of how to treat anyone fairly. Good luck if you decide to deal with this sketchy petsmart adoption mess. UPDATE: Received a phone call from a no caller ID number from someone named Gabby who attempted to "explain what happened today and these things normally go" which is so upsetting, rude, and disrespectful. The sheet arrogance to pull all of these stunts but to then call me afterward and explain how I "dont understand how it works" is condescending and rude. This is a sad night and I was already in tears but they've decided to try to add more to this.

Denied me to adopt a cat because my new cats have not been to the vet for a “well check”. I’ve used the same Vet my entire life and have other pets established with that same Veterinarian. However; because the cats I adopted in July, and November, who are both neutered and UTD on shots have not gone yet that makes me ineligible to adopt… both cats are thriving and healthy. Absolutely no reason for them to go to the Vet at this time. Not to mention the customer service is literally awful. I submitted an application and it took a week and a reminder from me to even respond. They told me the application picture I submitted was not large enough so they couldn’t read it. I then immediately resubmitted via the website and again 2 weeks later I had to send an email following up. All for them to tell me I’m not eligible. I will continue to use other rescues. This place is disorganized and a joke. I feel awful for the animals belonging to this rescue. I’m sure many amazing people have been turned down for other ridiculous things as well. Go elsewhere. Save your time.

They had a kitten at PetSmart that I was interested in because it looked just like my daughters favorite cat when he was a kitten and he recently passed away. I filled out the application and stated we had another cat that went outside and I have two Golden retriever dogs. We love are animals and take great care of them. I never thought for a minute I would be denied a rescue and told my daughter about the kitten. She was very excited. About 30 minutes before going to see the kitten I was emailed that I was denied because I have dogs and let my cat go outside. Even though I said I had no intention letting this cat go outside. My issue is if you have a no dogs and outside policy that maybe say that clearly up front or at the PetSmart. Felt it was a little personal, like the person was enjoying denying my application. I wanted to add after sharing my story to many friends and family I spoke to another who was turned down by this organization to adopt because her son had Autism. Sad!
