Description Back in 1985, Robert Wilson opened a pet store and named it after his beloved uncle, offering puppies and kittens for sale to local customers. Decades later, we are still family owned and deeply rooted in the central Indiana community. When most local residents think of where to find a new pet, Uncle Bill's Pet Center comes to mind. Lots of our customers grew up enjoying visits to our pet store, looking for puppies or kittens or a new fish for the aquarium, or just to enjoy the relaxed family atmosphere of the Indianapolis area's favorite pet store.Today, we still foster that family feeling in each of our six central Indiana locations. Even though some of our customers come from as far away as Chicago and Cincinnati to take advantage of ...

I shop at the Greenwood location because they have a nice fish room and a good selection of fish accessories. I really appreciate the great customer service that Tyler & Caleb provide. I can tell these two employees care about the animals and that means a lot to me. I have purchased Discus and Angel fish from here and really like the quality of fish.

Really disappointed in the care provided for pets in general at Uncle Bill's Pet Centers. We made two separate purchases for tarantulas (one at this Greenwood location and one at another local Uncle Bill's). At both locations, one of the tarantulas purchased were missing limbs. While at the Greenwood location, the reptile customer service associate opened the enclosure to show the sizing of the tarantula we were looking to purchase. Nothing was mentioned about the two limbs it was missing. Additionally the substrate was far too damp for the correct husbandry of this species. We also weren't able to purchase the other tarantula we were interested in because when the associate opened the container to show us the sizing of the small tarantula, he was unable to locate it. He pulled the container completely apart twice and could not find where the tarantula had gone, simply stating "it was in here when it was fed on Monday". This was being looked at on a Thursday, so I hope nothing happened to it in that time frame. When we called to explain our concern with the tarantula we purchased missing limbs, they said we could simply return it for a different tarantula or he could work out some other deal (mentioning he has hundreds of tarantulas at home). We did not want to return the tarantula to poor conditions, especially knowing it may already have complications with its next molt due to missing limbs. Plus as we had already mentioned to the associate the day prior we lived over an hour away from the store. It's incredibly frustrating to see how several of the pets there are not getting the care they deserve.

Ignoring the glaring issues with the puppies and kittens, which I'm sure has been said over and over, their fish and reptile departments seem well cared for. Small animals and birds still look as rough as they always have, though the parrots seem happier than they used to. The selection of pet care stuff is significantly better than other local pet stores which saved it from a 2/5. However, should someone see this from the store, please do some research into housing female Betta fish together. The female Betta tank is abhorrent and while it is densely planted, is way too small for the number of females that are wasting away in the tank. Stress lines show on each and every one. A bigger tank would be better but at least more tanks should be used. It's awful. I bought one of the girls and she is in a 10 gallon, alone, and will be staying that way. When I got her, she was nearly white with bright stress lines. Now she is coloring back up, but will continue to exhibit illness from her stress for a long while. The aquatics section is amazing other than this. Even the male Bettas have a better set up than most pet stores so I was really disappointed to see the female Bettas so poorly treated. It's a common misconception that they can be placed in these sororities in such a way. Female Bettas are still very aggressive and don't like to see each other this much. They even kill one another just like male Bettas. I would love to see this change.

Went for fish. It’s fine if you know your stuff, but a manager sold me a Siberian algae eater that they told me was an otocinclus. Only found out the truth when I used chat gpt to confirm, because it really just didn’t look like a catfish I thought I was getting! A mistake I understand, but now I don’t feel I can trust them. Tanks seem dirty. They don’t seem to clean glass. Some younger employees in the fish section come across as a bit apathetic. VERY different from The Reef up in Meridian Kessler. I would recommend the extra drive to go there for fish instead, if you have the time. Owner, if you read this you can give me a call! Would love to talk to you about what I’ve seen in your store, if you care to listen. Thanks!

In the past I have always loved this pet store. In the past year and 1/2, I have been buying fish from them and they will die. I took them back with water to have tested and they said the water is fine. They replaced the fish and they kept dying. I finally got fed up with them and went to pet smart and bought the same kind and same size fish. Not only did I save money but they lived. After that, I thought, well I have the tank balanced correctly, I went back to uncle bill and bought more ciclids as before and they all died. My pet smart fish are still alive. Something is wrong with their fish. Maybe it the way the collect them. Today I bought a few algae eaters and the guys begging them kept spinning the bag around, slamming the bag and just being really rough with the fish. If this is how they bagged all my other fish, no wonder they don't survive. I am pretty much done with them after today.

Absolutely love this place and have been coming here for well over a decade. They've just moved locations and it is set up so much better than the last shop there's more space everything is organized better you can tell where everything is in the staff seemed much happier to be there than where they were. Then again they were always helpful and cheerful whenever I've ever been there. They hire well knowledged people. The owner of the company especially is pleasant and extremely knowledgeable! Clean and friendly environment. Because of their knowledge I'm able to keep very healthy fish tanks and other animals in my home!
