This place was recommended to me and I decided to travel 2 hours just to take my pet here. I scheduled an appointment for dental surgery for my dog and was not disappointed at all. However, I did end up waiting from 8am- 3:30pm to pick him up. I would still say that it is worth it, especially with it being almost a third of the costs compared to other vets that quoted me for the same procedure. I called and they had a spot for me the very next day. So if you are looking for a place that will take care of your pet and is affordable, you should definitely come here!

This first part shows the differences in two different vet places. Extremely Disappointing Experience at Urgent Vet in Prosper On 8/7/2024 I had a very disappointing experience at Urgent Vet in Prosper. The visit started with a high upfront fee of $125, which seemed excessive given that they couldn’t diagnose anything without additional tests costing around $1200 for X-rays and blood work. My wife and I were at work, so my mother had to take our dog along with our two daughters to the appointment. I talked to someone on the phone and they were nice and I sure they are good people. Due to the high costs and the lack of a clear diagnosis, we decided to leave AMA (Against Medical Advice). As we were leaving, a tech made an incredibly insensitive comment in front of my 12-year-old daughter. The tech said, "Make sure you do something soon because if it’s what they might think it is, the dog might die." This comment was not only unprofessional but also deeply upsetting for my daughter. The tech should have spoken to my mother privately if they had such serious concerns. Overall, the experience was distressing and felt more like a money grab than compassionate veterinary care. We expected better communication and consideration, especially given the high cost of the visit. Thank you for making an already stressful situation even worse. Update 8/8/2024 We took our dog to Durant animal hospital at 86 W. Mulberry St. Durant, OK 74701. They diagnosed our dog with the same thing Urgent Vet had diagnosed. She had a emergency spay operation. Our dog had to stay a extra day due to not eating and was released on 8/10/24. Our total for the entire care was $830. Who knows how much it would of been going thru Urgent Vet. Durant animal hospital was great and we will be back. I'm so glad my buddy told me about them.

Dr. Boyd Mills and Dr. Joy are very caring and helpful 🧑⚕️ Veterinarians. They are very knowledgeable and the medicine they prescribed always works! They have helped stitch up my 🐕 dogs and 🐈 cats for the past 7 years. I love that they have an online pharmacy now that you can order your meds to receive monthly in the mail. ♥️

Took my dog doe in to be checked for a lump on her face, was told it was an abscess tooth and needed to be pulled. They took my dog over night and only did a cleaning/drain and gave anti biotics after i was told more needed to be done. Charged 200$ when i was told the tooth pull would be 250$ tried to contact multiple times and they will not call back. Don’t understand why I was told one thing needed to be done and then they did something completely different and now won’t return my calls. Seems like a pretty shady place and would never take another animal here again.

The lady at the front is not a very friendly person-hence the 4 stars. Past visits have been okay, my dogs needs have been met. This time however the young lady that took us back was excellent in listening and could not have been any nicer to my dog. The vet this time was a Justin Irgens and I was very impressed. He listened, he gave ideas for my dogs allergy issues and when it came to medications he was willing to look up prices for me to help make a decision. He gave reasonings for his suggestions as well. With the treatment and information I received I will return.

I am starting my own herd of highland cattle, I’ve got my first bull calf and my first heifer calf, I chose Durant animal hospital out of word of mouth, after meeting Lyndsie the practice mgr and Tara the vet tech who took my case I was very pleased with their extreme professionalism and knowledge of highland cows & their specific recommendation for Dr. Joy to be my vet, was absolutely on par. Dr. Joy was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything that was needed to get them up to date in shots and set up a breeding system for me. I noticed the tech, Tara taking very specific notes and they seemed very detailed, after talking with Dr. Joy I did have a couple of follow up questions and Tara was very much willing to answer them with extreme professionalism and confidence. Lyndsie was very helpful as well with setting up my account for future visits and also giving advice and pointers for treating their horns for flys. In my opinion with Lyndsie, Tara, & Dr. Joy, at this clinic I will be there as a life long customer, never in my time of taking any pet let alone cattle to a vet did I have a chance to meet, let alone talk to the practice mgr, who was again extremely helpful and professional, to a tech like Tara who’s knowledge and expertise on cattle just rocked my world. I now feel like I have a place I can take all of my animals to for life and know they will be in absolute excellent care with those ladies around, and if Dr. Joy is not available then I will have no issue following their advice for a secondary doc.
