Description The Hart County Humane Society is an all volunteer non-profit animal rescue organization whose mission is to rescue animals at risk of being euthanized from local shelters. We promote humane treatment of animals, and advocate for local government to provide animal control services. We prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens through a subsidized spay/neuter program and support volunteer efforts to rescue stray and abused animals. Our group is passionately working toward the day when every pet in our community is well cared for in a loving home.

We adopted our dog from Hart County Humane Society. Everyone there was super nice and helpful. We are so happy with the new addition to our family! As you can see, he is enjoying life to the fullest!
I had an amazing experience adopting two unrelated kitties from Hart County Humane Society in January, 2021. All of the volunteers and staff were friendly and gracious, offering assistance when I needed it and patiently waiting as I took my time making my decisions. At least one person at HCHS (usually several) was knowledgeable about the personality, health and backstory of each of the cats I chose. The kitties who now rule my house, formerly known as Raven and Havana, are healthy, playful, well-socialized animals (and faithfully use their litter boxes). Yes, there were a few delays in initial email and phone contact with the humans at HCHS, but my advice to potential adopters: please recognize that most of the staff ARE VOLUNTEERS. Be patient but persistent, and you’ll be rewarded with a healthy, well-loved animal previously well nurtured by HCHS.
Adoption with no surprises! These wonderful people spent time getting to know the dog we adopted. They had clear information about her, her energy level, her skills, and areas she needed a little work. We have had her in our home for over 3 weeks now and she is adjusted and happy. Della is learning to herd balls to use her natural abilities and energy. She impresses us daily with her desire to teach us something she can do and loves to show off how smart she is.
We’re so thankful for the love and care that Hart Humane had for our beautiful fur baby formerly known as Oatmeal before we adopted him. Thank you guys!
No - kill cat and dog rescue facility housing a wide variety of breeds, temperaments, ages and sizes of dogs, cats and kittens to choose from both at HCHS and in foster homes. Many of these animals were scheduled to be euthanized at other facilities simply due to over - crowding. Low - cost spay neuter certificates (including rabies vaccination!) for dogs and cats are also available for Hart and Franklin county residents. Help end the over-populatuon problem by either spreading the word about or gifting someone with a certificate for their unaltered dog or cat. You can also make a difference in these animals' lives by adopting, fostering, volunteering and/or donating!
I love being there it makes me happier to help those little baby. It is just how cural. That people hurt animals that is not in my nature. Those animals have heart to and the bleed just like use. It make feel good to help animals that people don’t love. Everytime I go in I just love to say hi to my baby. I have a good heart and I love animals and people but the most part. Family comes first but I still would love to adopt the animals. I care a lot about them.
