PLEASE READ IF YOU WANT TO ADOPT:: I went in to get a dog, he was amazing I loved him to death, spent $165, $65 for the dog-$100 for shots and neuter. They said they’ll call me to schedule an appointment and all is fine. 3 months come by and I have to check my dog into daycare for a week due to a sudden move. I am unable to due to my dog STILL not having shots nor fixed, despite already paying and having him for 3 months. I go back to the shelter to let them know about the situation, the lady at the front desk said that there was nothing they can do since they don’t “have direct contact with those who do the procedures”. I’m already very stressed because I loved my dog so I asked if there was a way to refund the $100 so I can get that service somewhere else quicker, especially since I never received the service. The lady starts crying, (I’m not making this up it was straight bizarre) she’s crying because she claims I was stressing her out by asking her a lot of questions, then goes to say I can only get a refund if I return the dog BUT if I do, ill be put on the no adopt list. I try explaining to her that I’m in a tough spot to either go somewhere else to get him an appointment and not able to afford the daycare, return the best dog I’ve ever had and not get him back, or leave my dog on the street for a week. She ends up saying that it’s basically not her problem , so I end up talking to a guy in the back, I don’t remember his name but I do remember he was wearing a sheriff uniform, he was extremely understanding and said that they’ll keep the dog until I can come back to get him and I’ll still get the refund within two weeks. About 9 days later, I get my home situated and go back to see if I can get my dog back, the man isn’t there, but the woman is, and she yells at me saying no and that I’ve been banned from adopting at their location, I ask about the refund at least and she acted like she didn’t know what I was talking about. It was overall the most stressful month of my life and I miss my dog every passing day. Adding photos of my handsome boy:

We went in today to look at cats. We found a few we loved, but left with little June Bug. The staff could not have been more helpful! The facilities were so clean and the animals are very loved. Very much recommended them for finding your new family member.

My wife and I had an incredible experience here. The staff were so kind and helpful. The facility was clean and maintained. We were able to stop by unannounced, play with all the cats, and adopt one that day to take home. If youre looking for a new pet, adopt, dont buy, and I highly recommend doing it here.

We live in an area notorious for animal dumping. Most recently a female pitbull kept getting inside our fence. We called for them to pick her up. They didn't show up. We took her up there to drop her off, they refused to take her. They don't accept drop offs. This shelter is poorly funded, with only one officer on the road. It's no wonder so many dogs are abandoned. Policies need to be changed.

The shelter is actively growing the feral cat population by not taking in community cats "through the front door" from the public. They want to put zero effort into this problem and force residents to drive to Atlanta to take care of Spalding counties homeless animals. This counties' cat population will explode with attitudes like this and the lazy people that work here. The only resource for people to turn to in a semi rural area and they are met with unresponsive, rude people. Folks, you need options for a spay and nueter program. Many counties offer certificates yo local vets that will nueter community cats. This is much cheaper than to let the problem get out of control like it is in Spalding county and around Georgia.

Somebody tied a pitbull to my mailbox. I called 3 days in a roll. The 1st,I was told somebody would be out the next day to get the dog.The 2nd day I was told that would get in touch with the person I spoke with the day before. Dog is still here. Now!!!! Today I was told there was no room for him. I don't know who tied him to my mailbox or who he belongs to but I can't keep him. Spalding County Animal can't even be honest with you. Actually they sound like they don't care.
