I live in San Diego, CA and foster/adopt dogs from Mexico. I saw a gorgeous female Bluetick Coonhound on OCHS website featured on Petfinder, that I wanted to help. I called OCHS and spoke with a very professional receptionist, who provided very detailed information and patiently answered my questions. It is evident to me that the animals are well cared for after reading the reviews from other patrons. I happily left a donation through their website.

Adopted a senior beagle named Eastly who was heartworm positive last October and he’s officially heartworm free and chunkier and happier than ever. Also renamed to George and we’re so grateful to have this special boy in our lives.

No fee for surrendering an animal or dropping off found strays. Free microchip scan for found strays. Will work with you on fostering or having a sleepover (temporary stay for a cat or dog you're interested in adopting and want an initial impression). Will supply you with food, vet care, cat litter, etc until adoption. Will help you pick out the perfect pet for you and your home. All pets fixed and microchipped before adoption. They also adopt out barn and outbuilding cats. On-site vet and assistant for care of shelter and affiliated fosters. Will put you in contact with local affiliated foster groups for fostering or adoption. Occasional cheaper adoption events. Ask about low cost spay/neuter clinics in the area. Practically a no-kill humane society. Affiliation with area pet shops. Great reputation in MS. Check out their on-site TNR cat colony.
