We reserved a beach wheelchair for our grandson during our stay. I put it on reserve many months ahead of our arrival. The folks there are just so friendly and helpful. I'll definitely call them when. I plan to return again.

During our family holiday vacation in December, we stayed in Kill Devil Hills in a lovely home. Since my son loves to windsurf he brought his board and wet suit to go windsurfing in the sound. Conditions seemed pretty good as he went out during the day on Christmas Eve to ride the wind. Then he got into some trouble in the middle of the sound and starting getting pulled further out, away from shore being pushed toward the bridge (to Manteo). Cold, exhausted and dealing with an uncooperative sail, the situation quickly deteriorated. He was lost from sight from the shore and we called fire and rescue as soon as we realized this was serious. Very quickly Nags Head Fire & Rescue was on the spot assessing the scene, finding the location of my son and then dispatching a Jet Ski to pull him in. Thank goodness for Nags Head Fire & Rescue workers! What could have been such a tragic story was avoided, and everyone was back home safe, warm and enjoying a Christmas Eve dinner with family. I will always remember and be grateful to the crew for their teamwork, and efficiency plus all the kindness, empathy and patience to all the worried family. Thanks again to these brave and helpful people who stopped everything they were doing on a Christmas Eve to help someone in need.

On Sunday, June 21, 2015, the Nags Head Fire Department performed an outstanding service for our renters, our neighbors, and us. Their quick action was especially important for us since we live in Baltimore in the summer and rent out our South Nags Head home. The firemen quickly responded to a neighbor's call involving smell of gas outside our house. The propane tank had sprung a leak, leaving a residue and possible flammable material. Thanks to the prompt actions of the firemen who washed down the area surrounding the tank and worked with the propane provider, a potentially dangerous situation was averted. We are most grateful to the Nags Head Fire Department and consider ourselves most fortunate to live within their jurisdiction. Thank you again!

We had a minor issue with the grill at our rental house tonight and the guys that came to help were phenomenal in getting everything straightened out. Thanks again!!!
