My wife and I adopted TWICE. Both times were easy, Susan is PLEASANT and polite to us every time we have been there. She shouts but she talking over barking dogs. My fur babies are doing great. We adopted Owen who is now Pepperoni, the red nose pit. Most loving dog and so friendly. We went back to get him a friend and we adopted Daisy. Daisy is a Treeing Tennessee, most adorable friendly lovey dog you can meet. She's also super intelligent plays fetch and super affectionate. THANK YOU SUSAN you're amazing and we appreciate what you've done for our family.
Last Sunday my boyfriend an I adopted are sweet boy Jupiter! Sue and all the volunteers where amazing an we could not have had a better experience with adoption. Highly highly recommend this shelter, they truly care for there pups!
We have been looking for a specific pup for the longest time. We finally found her through SPCA in Monroe. Unfortunately, we had to back out the first time as we had something come up unexpectedly. We were beyond heart broken we couldn't adopt our girl then. We originally asked if they do Foster-to-Adopt as we weren't 100% set on adopting after we heard our girl was taken. Fast forward a couple days (more like a week), I get a call from Sue and she said that our girl was coming back and she wanted to have us take her! We were beyond happy to hear and jumped at the chance to get our girl. We took her home that day, introduced her to our pack (3 other pups) and we fell in love. We drove back down to Monroe about a week later and made the decision to adopt Suki. We are beyond happy with how everything went and will 100% go see Sue of the Monroe SPCA if we ever get another pup. Thank you so much, Sue!!
I placed my application 2 weeks ago which was approved and I spoke to them twice - I made an appt, left work early and my son took the day off in addition, he picked up my granddaughter who lives 40 minutes away. Appt at 430pm, got there at 4:20pm, told her who I was and the dogs I would like to meet she angrily said only 2 dogs I’ll bring out I’m too busy, she yelled at me and was quite aggressive I said ok thinking she maybe just busy with all of the puppies. I stood there for 50 minutes and was basically ignored - she finally came out and said sorry if I was rough on you but I can’t show you dogs today, the volunteers messed it all up so it would take to long to find the puppies you want - can you come back Saturday- I was shocked - we had even considered volunteering to help out but not with that attitude, I nicely tried to talk to her and she was still not nice and told me she’s not worried, all of these puppies will get adopted! My son who remained very patient told her it was wrong and she yelled at him, she didn’t like that and told him to get off her property. She then complained how people were there 4 hrs today for one puppy. I know the job is not easy but you knew these pups were coming for quite some time, you should have been prepared and not made appts you could not handle. I pray that the puppies all get a home quickly because they deserve that, it’s very sad that things happened the way they did because 2 puppies would have had a great home! I’m sorry you are overwhelmed but you don’t treat people horribly and in front of children! Shame on you!! They say adopt from shelters - I tried!!! Horrible experience
11 years ago a volunteer named Sue said she had the perfect dog for my family. My children spent years imagining what our dog's life was like during his time without us, his forever family. That dog slept on a bed, never missed a meal, was pet, cuddled every day until he could no longer walk, and never forgot where he came from. Pound dog's KNOW. They just do. All these years later the volunteer that cried when we left the SPCA with our new dog Brewster is the person running the shelter. And wouldn't you know.....she said, "I think i have a dog you may like." And matched us with a dog that has managed to steal our hearts again. People who run animal shelters are special. There's a place for them in God's heart for the work they do. Sue and her staff of volunteers are amazing for the work they do. Day in and day out they see the best and worst of us through these abandoned dogs and manage to keep going. I applaud all of them.
We adopted a German Shepard mix here 10-11 years ago. She recently passed and we got a beautiful mini pit
