Description Furry Friends Foster and Rescue Inc is a foster-based dog rescue located in CT. We don't have a shelter - all of our dogs live in private homes with foster families in CT. We focus primarily on local CT dogs and do our best to help the dogs who need us the most - those in local municipal pound and especially those facing possible euthanasia; those needing medical care that goes beyond normal vetting; and those needing some fine-tuning through training to become the best dogs they can be. We are 100% volunteer, and are an approved 501(c)(3) public charity by te IRS.

I called about a dog in their possession , referred by local boarding facility . Asked about the dog by name and this old lady went off the wall, assumed it was the owner. " Who told you it was here ? What are there names ? Not supposed to give out info.! " On and on. Dog has been in kennels at least since last year and I wanted to adopt. Woman is a total whack job and I believe the reviews from people who worked for her in the past. Should be more oversite on so called dog rescues.

I have volunteered for this organization for approximately 5 years, including several years as a board member. The Executive Director, Leslie Rich, is also the Board President, which is a conflict of interest. Leslie controls everything, does not tolerate disagreement, and board members do very little, and are not allowed to view bank statements or review the IRS form 990, which is required by CT law. Several dogs have been in boarding for years, with little to no effort made to find them homes. The bills are not paid. Perfectly good applicants are never contacted. A quarter of the dogs have been placed with a kennel run by someone who is not a certified trainer, and no one ever checks on them. Leslie herself lives out of state and has never met any of the dogs, but disregards information about them from their fosters if she doesn't like it. Dogs that need medication often do not receive it, and other supplies are often not provided in a timely manner. A number of long-time volunteers have left, and many board members have resigned or been forced out in the short period of time that this rescue has existed. Leslie will likely respond and say that I am a disgruntled former board member that was recently voted out. That was done illegally also, according to CT law, which supersedes an organization's bylaws. Nothing that I have stated above is untrue. Look elsewhere for your rescue needs.

Not a foster based rescue, they board their dogs for years.

Apparently it becomes the applicants fault if vet reference has spelled their name wrong or if they've gotten new animals and have updated records for them. Takes too long for responses and applications are not processed timely like stated on their site. They're very judgemental based on very little information and Leslie is rude if you reach out on Facebook messenger. Use a different adoption agency.

I called because her ad had mentioned cats. We are worried because our Buddy got away and our children will have broken hearts if we dont find him. I mistakenly called back and the lady was horribly rude and un sympathetic. She said stop calling they are supposed to be 24 hours. Just no reason to be nasty.
