All the staff are thoughtful, caring, and supportive. We are always seen on time for our appointments. The vet and his assistant were very gentle and knowledgeable during the appointment and put my pup at ease before starting the exam, heartworm test, and immunization shot. It was a delightful experience.

After moving from another Vet, I knew I made the right choice. The staff and doctors at At Home Animal Hospital are super caring and super friendly. They truly truly care about our pets. They give their honest opinions and suggestions - oh and can't forget about options, keeping cost in mind. I am very happy I decided to move change to a new Vet.

I’m shocked at how poorly my experience was here with my latest pet and now I’m questioning whether I ever did the right thing by taking my animals here over the last 3 years. I adopted a cat from Maui Humane Society who I’d been fostering who was the runt of the litter and struggling to keep a firm stool. He also kept having blood in it. After MHS lost his stool sample when they said they’d test it, I decided to bring him to a private vet because he’d already been having a level 1 fecal score for over a week at this point. Over the phone, a receptionist told me it didn’t matter whether I brought in a stool sample or not because they could also swab directly into his behind, so I left the sample I grabbed. When they said I could pick my cat up, the vet—Jill Mitchell—repeated back to me the description of the issue I gave her vet tech, which was odd, and didn’t offer any potential answers. It was like she didn’t even understand the point of why I gave a background on the situation. I’ve had animals and brought them to vets my whole life and had never experienced this level of uncertainty. She didn’t add details from her experience to any of my input. She wanted to immediately prescribe him antibiotics and probiotics without ever having seen his history from MHS, where he’d just been through a round of probiotics and antibiotics. She didn’t even give suggestions to what might be going on, but say “maybe” when I offered answers I’d found googling myself, like stress. She then went to say she couldn’t get a good sample for the stool test, because he’s only a kitten, and they had inputted that I would be taking in a 3 year old cat into their system. This was a mistake on their part, as I’d told them it’s a kitten and the receptionist must’ve not been educated about how you can’t swab a kitten, so they let me bring in my stool sample so they could test it—which cost me anyway as the commute to them from where I live is 40 minutes. After everything came up negative, the vet still insisted I buy the antibiotics. When I did, my cat started throwing up within 12 hours of taking it. Like, over and over again (see video). It was both terrifying and alarming. I called and they said to stop giving him the antibiotic. He stopped throwing up and his stool hardened (probably from both the probiotic and me adopting a couple of his siblings he’d been separated from). I called to ask for a refund on the antibiotic, because I’d pushed back against it to the inexperienced vet, and then following her treatment made my kitten more sick. The receptionist said the manager would give me a call back yesterday, but didn’t, so here’s my review. I’m deeply disturbed by this interaction and advise everyone to beware of this facility. They really don’t seem to know what they’re doing and are operating like a dysfunctional business rather than a group of animal lovers who’ll care for your pet. They even had a sign they taped to their counter saying that they won’t tolerate language and raised voices. That should’ve been my warning sign: the only reason animal owners would behave this way is if they’re having experiences like mine, but worse. 😬 I’d originally chosen this vet because their prices are better than Maui Central, but I won’t be coming back here. It’s like throwing money away. I paid over $300 for this and only the probiotics MIGHT have helped.

We have been clients of At Home Animal Hospital for over 10 years. Dr. Jill Mitchell has been our vet almost that entire time. She has always demonstrated a very professional, compassionate, and caring demeanor, as well as medical expertise in pursuing any and all health and ailment issues during the care of our five (5) dogs over the years. We even have had two puppies (from separate parentage) that have presented bloody stools (both recovered well), so we are well aware of the difficulty in identifying the exact culprit and making a diagnosis in such a challenging situation. We found Dr. Mitchell, and the entire At Home staff, to be very easy to work with, and we would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Mitchell and At Home to anyone and everyone... not for a nanosecond. Wow! At Home is incredible. We have two giant St.Bernard dogs who admittedly are a lot. They are a whopping 300#'s together, but they are also complete love bugs. At Home is always confident, caring, and thorough in their treatment of our beloved animals. We have been greeted by smiling and friendly staff at our car for drop-offs, and receive thorough reports from vets about current conditions before we even arrive to pick the dogs up again. I was so impressed when the vet told me: "Your dogs are so sweet! I'm not intimidated by giant dogs, I have a couple of my own at home." I truly felt like she knew how to handle giant breed dogs, and would be able to control the dogs appropriately. I am 100% comfortable with the care we receive and am so grateful for their professional establishment. They are truly the gold standard for animal care on Maui. I would never take our animals anywhere else. Thank you, At Home!

The staff and facilities are wonderful. My cats, siblings, are in the cat condo, can be together. Besides the professional staff and calming, clean facilities.. I can visit my cats. That means everything to me. Highly recommend this hospital. Also if my cats get sick they are boarded next to the hospital.
