We had a fantastic experience with this rescue. We saw a dog we were interested in and filled out the application. They were very timely to get back with us and work with us even though we were an hour and a half drive (at best) away. They made arrangements to make the drive so I could meet the dog. This was so nice because I have kids and I would have had to juggle school and traffic just to meet him. We adopted him and he is wonderful! His records were very clear and his medical information current with clear instructions as to what would be next. I had a great time meeting Royce and appreciate her care in ensuring that we were a good home for our Finn. The communications I had with Pam were also top notch. They are not just caring rescuers, but they go the extra step to make sure that the dog is going to a good home.
Angels and Paws has been FANTASTIC. We had the honor of adopting two of their dogs (Lotus and Frankie) and the entire experience has been pleasant. They truly care about their dogs and want to make sure they go to loving and caring homes. Some people say their process is ridiculous, but, some people don't value dogs as much as they should. We are very happy with our new family members, and look forward to working with Angels and Paws in the future. A+++++
Zero stars. This agency is not actually intetested in rehoming pets. Angels n Paws lists animals in the Seattle area, but once you have inquired and filled out their extensive application, you find out the animals are all in California. They say they have a "sister shelter" that they work with in Seattle and are willing to transport the dogs from CA to WA, but you will not get a firm date of transport. I tried working with this agency for over two weeks, and after asking where we were in the process I was told they are "very busy" and some of their adoptions can take months to finalize. Once it seemed I had finally jumped through all their hoops, Royce ultimatly denied my application saying if the Seattle contact Papken refuses to approve the application then "her hands are tied". When I raised the complaint that Papken never called me, she said she was told he did so "this is on you". I did not have any missed calls or voicemails from ANYONE trying to contact me for any interview or home check. I would advice hopeful new owners to not bother dealing with Angels n Paws unless they have plenty of time to waste.
More than a week ago I applied for Zsa Zsa and Eva. I filled out their lengthy application which was somewhat intrusive but I look passed it as I figured they wanted to make sure their rescues were going to a good home. I got a call back from Royce Bordes, Founder/CEO of Angels N Paws. It was a positive call. She was very excited and even said my application was the best she has got as of yet although she had gotten others that wanted to split them up. Anyway, we discussed a visit with the girls and the deposit. Royce knew that my family would not be moving for a couple months but she was not deterred by it and it was in my application. I did not hide anything from her. My kids and I went to visit the girls and Royce still said that holding them until I move was fine with her especially since she wanted them together and a $600 fee was hard for most applicants. As we were leaving I was ready to give her our deposit of $300 and then all the sudden she declined claiming that she hadn't verified my home address yet. Royce said, "I will call you back in a day but maybe two because I am busy". I then said to Royce, "Oh, ok then but I am still first in line and my deposit will hold them, right?" To which Royce replied, "Yes". My children and I left happy and excited as there is no way Royce would find that we did own our home we are expecting to move back into. Needless to say, Royce never called me back. More than a week had passed so I decided to send Royce an email its says...... Lorraine Marrero Feb 2 (1 day ago) Hello Royce, I just wanted to check back with you regarding Zsa Zsa and Eva. I am assuming that you didn't feel we were a good fit since I haven't heard from you but wanted to know if you would share with me what caused you to change your mind? Thanks, Lorraine Then Royce opening emailing is responded like this........... Royce Bordes 8:53 AM (3 hours ago) Hi Lorraine, the adoption process is just that...a process, which "minds" are never made up until all aspects of the "process" are concluded, therefor we never made up our minds in the first place to "change" it. The email finishes with the fact that I am denied based on my living in an apartment which I am fine with Royce changing her mind due to the pending move to our home even though as you can see Royce says she never changed her mind....But Royce did these 5 things 1) tells me she would hold them for us knowing we weren't moving for a couple of months, 2) have us come and see them if holding them is a problem, 3) then tell us that we were first in line until she verified my home is actually owned by me, 4) then backs out and say that the reason is due to something that was in the application from the beginning, and 5) in her response to me she acts as though she never told me and my kids any of these things. But yet I should understand that Royce never made up her mind. ROYCE'S HANDLING AND RESPONSE TO ME IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I will not ever apply to her facility again *EDITING* After posting this I have gotten several emails from Royce claiming all sorts of things and even insulting me. Royce is claiming that my apartment doesn't have a yard (which she never inspected) and neither was my apartment ever a consideration anyway. Royce is claiming that the animals would be left home with no one all day (which is not true and my application explains that). And Royce is also claiming that she can't do a home visit because I don't live there yet (however, Royce told me that she only needed to do a drive by because it being all new housing and verify that I actually owned the home). Its absurd that this woman doesn't get that the fact that she rudely came off with that response of not changing her mind when all I was looking for was a bit of constructive criticism since she didn't call me back. She can pretend that she never told me that my pending move wasn't an issue but she did however, I totally understand if its a reason to change her mind and that was all she needed to say.
We adopted 2 dogs (sisters) without any incident. Happy with the the service we received. Will certainly look them up again in the future.
Another non "profit" rescue shelter that doesn't rescue dogs. Especially an injured one that needs medical attention.
