I couldn't be more pleased with the choice I had to make with surrendering my bird Murphy to Ruffled feathers. Been about a year now an every time I'd inquire about murphy I've always received a response from Yvonne. I sincerely hope if you ever have to make that hard choice in your life. You consider this rescue.

This is a beautiful retirement place for beautiful parrots. Yvonne & Gil are striving to give the parrots as close to a natural environment as can be humanely possible! Loved our visit , & Gil is a saint for getting our parrots down there safely. What we all do makes a difference in the lives of these wonderful creatures. Thank you Yvonne for doing what you guys do. I have had my parrots over 18 years and I am entrusting their lives here in this sanctuary. After having parrots this long, I fully believe after experience none of them should be allowed to be held captive. Perhaps one day all that will change! In the meantime, they have a safe retirement in this sanctuary! This will be their final home. Please volunteer or donate , all our actions make a difference!!

We are so grateful for ruffled feathers ,Gil and Yvonne truly care for theses animals ,I know my beloved cockatoo pearl and his mate Billie will be in a atmosphere closer to what they are meant to live in , and not locked up in a cage ,we know this is going to be a better life for them Gill has been so understanding with us and has explained how it's harder for us than for them,we brought our birds to them and they let us see the avaries the are very large and as natural as possible ,we know they will have a nice life thank you ruffled feathers Gil and Yvonne and all the others their who truly love the birds in their care.

I am a senior citizen and have raised exotic parrots for 25-30 years. I have hand-fed these lovely creatures and given them love just like they were my own children. I personally had Macaws and African Greys during that time. I became in a position that I could no longer care for my birds properly or give them the attention that they needed. I was afraid if I got sick or disabled, I would have no family or friends who would want the responsibility to care for them. Nor did I want to put them in a place where they would be in cages in another home. I searched for a long time to find a place that would give them a better quality of life and give me peace of mind knowing they would be somewhere natural and free to roam. I I was apprehensive to surrender my birds. I heard and read such horror stories about placement in these various rescues and sanctuaries which would not be a positive or wise choice for my birds. I finally found Ruffled Feathers Parrot Sanctuary. I contacted them and requested to visit the facility. It is only one hour from where I live. Gil spoke to me on the phone for a very long time and reassured me on allowing my birds to become a part of a flock rather than living in cages in a room. The day came when I visited Ruffled Feathers. It was more than I imagined!! These 161 acres are a safe, loving and a remarkable environment of well cared-for parrots. I was amazed at the large and small aviaries for all the different exotic birds. The birds are able to be free and fly like they should. My heart was put at ease knowing that I finally found the right home for my birds. Finally, I brought my birds to Ruffled Feathers. They are happy and adjusted to their new environment. If Yvonne and Gil did not have this love and dedication, this idyllic spot would not exist. They helped reassure me that I was doing the right thing for my birds. My birds were my long-time companions and knowing that they are happy, healthy, eating well and finally able to be birds of the flock allows me the freedom to be at peace. Months ago a Parrot Sanctuary tried to join with this Sanctuary to receive help with their own birds. Unfortunately Ruffled Feathers has decided to ILLEGALLY seize all parrots of that sanctuary and absolutely refuses to give the birds back, despite the fact that they have nothing in writing to claim ownership of the birds. So to anyone looking for a new bird, go elsewhere. These guys are not trustworthy. Edited: Secondly this is not Red Legs, different party. But you’ve been trying to convince red legs too I noticed. No you don’t have the papers of surrender, you’ve been trying to force the other sanctuary to sign them so you can claim legality. Thirdly, you paying for their supplies doesn’t give you the rights over the birds. You stole them plain and simple. Do the right thing and give them back.
