I would like to take this time to thank the wonderful people at this establishment. From the phone call asking a question about our Bella, to the moment we walked in. Memphis Veterinary Specialists & Emergency is a one of a kind place! Everyone was truly compassionate from answering the phone prior to us heading up there to us all going home! Our specific visit was for an emergency where my vet at Precious Paws in Southaven urged us to go for Chance to have his jaw looked at. Luck was on our side in this case and I cannot thank the staff enough and Dr King! We all received tremendous and compassionate care! Communication was excellent! Dr King was extremely thorough with his dedication to his craft! We are truly thankful for the special person at Precious Paws communicating with Dr King to let him know that we were coming. They know who they are! Thank you! We couldn't have been more fortunate to have come across the right people and the right place for Chance! If you are ever in need of their services don't hesitate to go! We are truly grateful!

All I can say is thank you to each member of the staff here. Each one is kind, compassionate, professional, and very helpful. We came in early Sunday morning. We were told to bring our little Dachshund here by the emergent vet in North Little Rock. She had a herniated disc and they couldn’t perform at this particular er in North Little Rock. We were told she’d need emergency surgery to fix her back. We drove back to Heber Springs by the time we got back it was early Sunday morning. Like 12:30 am. Myself nor my husband could sleep so we gave our little fur baby the pain meds to make her comfortable to make the 3 hour ride to Memphis. They were expecting us. We arrived between 7 and 8 Sunday morning. We were took right in. She was evaluated and had the same diagnosis. We were told that they did surgery’s on weekdays and she needed to have the surgery that day and Mississippi State would be able to do it. Dr. Bishop came in and I explained I wasn’t from there. I explained that I didn’t think I could make it there. By this time I was crying because I wanted to help our fur baby. Dr Bishop said we’ll take care of her don’t worry and I understand. She was the most amazing person, and vet that went beyond to help us. She said hold let me make a phone call to our surgery team. She did and Dr. DeRouen came in and performed to surgery for my Little Ladybug that day.They were very thorough. Did a CT Scan first to confirm was suspected. They called to let me know she did in fact have herniated disc and being taken in for back surgery. After surgery Dr. DeRouen called and explained what was done, how it went, recovery time, and prognosis. We were told we could call and check on her at anytime. Dr ReRouen called Monday morning and let us know how she was. She also let us know that her team member Dr. Tomlinson would be taking over her care and updates. And she did as well. Dr Tomlinson was great. She called the next to mornings with updates and let us know what was to be expected during her recovery. She and the staff was very accommodating by letting us do a late afternoon pick up on the account we were so far away and my work schedule. We got her home and she is doing good. Her physical therapy is going good. They sent her home with her meds and prescriptions to fill as well. I can not express all of the gratitude I have for everyone here. Thank you to each and every person that we came in contact with, that cared for our beloved Ladybug, and that was behind the scenes helping with her that we didn’t see or speak to. Thank you to front desk for being kind, professional, and not minding the 3 to 4 times a day I called to check on her. If you have a pet emergency this is the place to go and be. They were exceptional and we couldn’t be more pleased with the care our fur baby received. Thanks again to everyone. God Bless each of ya’ll. ❤️

After being misdiagnosed at Jackson emergency vet, my dog was reexamined by my local vet 9 days later. Xrays showed a badly dislocated elbow. My vet recommended having the surgery to repair by Memphis Veterinary Specialist. His surgery went well and the recovery process results were better than I had hoped for. I have never dealt with more considerate and friendly staff than I received here. They are the best. Always willing to answer my concerns. From the front desk to the surgeon, nothing but great.

Really late posting this but had a dachshund that was treated here at least 12 years ago. She had broken her back running through a field and couldn’t use her back legs. They kept her overnight for observation but also started her on steroids to try to help. We met back in the morning only to find out she needed back surgery. We were told she’d probably do it again later in life and need to be put down. That wasn’t the case - the vet who did the surgery did an amazing job and she lived to the old age of 14 (was blind and deaf but her back never failed her).

Very clean, organized, friendly and caring. Explained everything in detail and gave options. Our senior dog had to have his eye removed they did a wonderful job. I would have loved a call after surgery to check on him. This would have put them over the top to a 5 star and made a world of difference!
