I've been a follower and supporter of Motley Zoo for many years. I've continually been impressed by their efforts to educate, support, and fund raise in order to provide healthcare, rehabilitation, and housing for the animals they rescue. After following their adoption and education efforts for meant years, I was able to adopt a perfect Malti-poo from them 5 weeks ago. I was so impressed by the thoroughness of the adopter vetting process that I fell when deeper in love with this group and felt blessed to have been approved to adopt. I visited their location to meet (and bring home) my baby and was in awe of the kennel set up. There was a huge, fenced area for the large dogs they were fostering in site. There's also a boarding facility on location. The location and staff are so impressive that I wish I could adopt another. I will always refer anyone asking about adopting to Motley Zoo. I can't say enough good things!
My wife and I were given the opportunity to foster a little special needs pup from Motley Zoo. She was an amazing little creature but ultimately succumbed to her birth defects. Throughout the whole process Motley Zoo was amazing. Extremely knowledgeable and communicative. The vets they’ve chosen to work with are also pretty great to deal with too. The facility where the animals are kept is spacious and clean plus they have multiple big dog run areas for exercise. So even though our first foster situation ended earlier than we anticipated, overall it was a very positive experience and it made me want to help out even more. Without question I would go through Motley Zoo again. I’ve seen some of the other reviews here and a few are pretty spicy. I don’t quite get that. Fostering and adopting takes time and at times running a rescue can be overwhelming with vet visits, coordinating, etc. Be patient and the right pet will come to you. ♥️
The staff and pet adoption place is very pro. We finally adopt a great sweet boy there.
Ya know they really should put a warning label on the euphoria felt once past a deep intense concentrated grieving and hand off to people that you meet in a moment, look each other in the eye, exchange stories of experience and letting those you'll forever love from a far go on to a lifetime of assured loving care. >^.^< It was such an honor to host Robert Fripp and Brian Eno in feline form if only for two months. Our first fosters with Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, they were absolute gentleman and brilliant collaborative partners in many a short experimental film and photo with us. >^.^< When it comes to deciding if to try fostering, "Buy the ticket, Take the ride." That said, we'll never doubt taking the time to kick the tires before hopping on a band wagon. Finding the right organization to work with that we were well in alignment in purpose and path was key. >^.^< Looking forward to a future of many more such brief love affairs of helping many find each other to share their best lives together. Long may we live to Rock On and Rescue On together Motley Zoo Animal Rescue! We are mighty grateful we found our forever home in joining you! >^.^<
I recently applied to volunteer at MZ to spend time with dogs as well as help in the effort of advocating and caring for animals in need. I received an email response the next day and was able to immediately contribute and make an impact. I have a 4 year old dog I got as a puppy from a shelter, thats where my experience and awareness of shelters and rescues started and ended. I have been welcomed with enthusiasm. Was provided quality training to safely and effectively care for the dogs and provide a clean, safe place for them. I was introduced to the vision and passion to improve the world beyond helping animals in ways big and small. This hasn’t been the experience I was expecting. It has been so much better and my reasons to volunteer have become so much bigger than when I first applied. The passion and energy the people at MZ and the MZ community have for the selfless work being done has been inspiring as well as motivating to be the best we can. What started as a way to give some time for a cause greater than myself has turned into me caring about and aware of the multitude of ways MZ is dedicated to not only help animals but the environment as well. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow within the MC community and movement.
We started fostering with thoughts to adopt and were blown away by the level of care and support we got as fosters and throughout the adoption process. We weren’t positive we were ready after losing our senior chi abruptly to IMHA, but Pate paired us with the perfect pup for us and ensured we got off to a great start together as a family. The rescue industry is hard. There is so much variation in terms of quality of experience for both the animals and adopters/fosters, and they are often trying to do so much with so little. Motley Zoo does it right. We’ve since tried to work with a couple other rescues and it just doesn’t compare - the medical care and attention the animals receive, the communication with us, and the long term commitment just shines above the rest. They are the only rescue we’ve worked with that truly cares about investing in training. This is great but only for adopters, but for the safety and security of the pets as well. Plus they’re just fun folks :) Check out their boarding and training if you already have pups. The MZ Woods Creek Kennel in Monroe is a dog’s dream and worth the trek. Thank you Motley Zoo!
