Description AFHAR is a non-profit no kill rescue saving lives throughout the state of Florida. We specialize in small dogs. All our dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. We take care of all medical issues, socialize and prepare them for their forever homes. We rescue strays, take in owner surrenders and, of course, rescues from death row. We are proud of all the lives that we have saved and look forward to saving many more.
Love this place. They do amazing things for the dogs. I rescued both my chihuahua mixes from this wonderful home. The staff and volunteers are awesome and just want to do what’s best for the doggies. Their primary focus is keeping the dogs loved, Safe and settled as they help them find their forever home . Highly recommend. Adopt, don’t shop
We rescued our little pom, Max, in 2018 and he's been such a great addition to our family. From the moment we locked eyes, we knew we were going to bring him to his forever home. We've taken him on road trips to Philadelphia, New Orleans, California and have given him the best life a dog can have. Could not have been done without Lori and the volunteers. Thank you all. We love our little guy so much!!!
Today we adopted Scooby Doo! He's quite a mix (we had a DNA test done, which I'm editing in here): American Pit Bull Terrier (36.8%) / Rottweiler (24.8%) / American Bulldog (17.2%) / Australian Cattle Dog (12.4%) and Miniature Australian Shepherd (8.8%). He's so smart, and the sweetest boy ever. The staff and volunteers at A Forever Home Animal Rescue are all amazing human beings. They care deeply for all of the animals that they are helping to find their forever homes, and it shows. They take great pains to ensure that their dogs are going to the perfect home, which is wonderful to see. We are already in love with Scooby. He was well cared for at Forever Home Animal Rescue, and now he's finally home.
Our experience with A Forever Home Animal Rescue couldn't have been better. From getting the call from Andrea to going to the Rescue to adopt Marley with Andy, it was such a nice experience. Marley is a little doll and we couldn't be happier!
Awesome.. couldn't imagine my life without this sweet boy Milo I adopted August 2022 he was a year old.
Great experience - no other way to describe it. The staff are definitely dedicated to matching up the dog with the owner - they are careful to ask a lot of questions about your preferences and living situation before making suggestions. There is a very detailed application, but the approval process did not take long. All the staff members with whom we worked were interested, involved, and dedicated. The animals are well cared for, and you will be told any issues (single owner, came from house with kids, surrendered dog etc) up front. I will suggest that you complete the application process, regardless. If you go to look at a specific animal, someone who is already approved may also be looking at that animal. And the staff there will let you know about others interested, if you ask. Also, only one or two parties/families can be in the building - there is limited space, but moreover they obviously want to give you the time to really visit with the dog. All in all we had a wonderful experience, and I will definitely recommend this facility to anyone looking to adopt a dog.
