I was very impressed with Julie and her facilities - her super clean barn spoke volumes! I would recommend Copper Horse Crusade to anyone considering getting a horse - adopt from them and help her save a life! I absolutely adore my Belgian Draft, Gertrude, who I never would've known if not for Julie and CHC.

Around two months ago, we brought home one very special and very lucky draft gelding whom Julie pulled from the feed lot. He has been nothing but an absolute joy! He is everything and more we were told he would be. Julie and her team at CHC far exceeded our already high expectations. The care, knowledge, compassion and training they give to their horses is often times very rare to find in the horse world. Their straightforwardness and honesty sometimes are even rarer. Without a doubt when the time comes to add to our family we will look to Julie and Copper Horse Crusade.

Copper Horse Crusade is the real deal and what they do on the daily is simply amazing and so needed....we have 4 of their rescues and Julie & staff really do put in the training, time, love, and care required to find loving homes for these hard luck souls. Make this your first stop if you are looking for a horse-this rescue is also transparent and honest concerning any vices or health issues, so there are no surprises. And please consider making a donation-rescuing horses from the kill pen and getting them the care they need is very costly and they deserve any help they can get-Copper Horse is a legit, compassionate rescue that you can feel good about supporting!

I was hesitant about getting a rescue and reasonably so. I attempted to bring home a TWH from a kill pen in LA. After bailing and paying for transportation of said horse, he had to be euthanized (supposedly), the vet bill was outrageous and the fee I paid to have him transported still hasn't been refunded! So I searched for another gaited horse much closer to home. I text Julie about Zeppelin and she responded the same day. We agreed on a day for me to visit and I drove the 2 1/2 hours to the barn. I was impressed with the facility and the professionalism of the staff. It was a great visit, no rush, just time to bond with Z. I put the deposit down on him that day and he was delivered that same weekend! I couldn't be happier with my decision. We have had the farrier out and my daughter and I have ridden him numerous times. The compliments just keep coming from friends and family and he has to be one of the smoothest gaited horses I have ever ridden. After everything we have been through with the previous kill pen ordeal this was meant to be. Third times a charm! Thanks to Julie and McKenna we found ❤️ again with Zeppelin.

We have adopted two horses from Julie at Copper Horse Crusade, and we have been so happy that we have sent not one but two clients in need of beginner friendly horses directly to CHC. Julie does a wonderful job representing the horses for who they are and she is very conscientious when it comes to long term placement. Our girls have been kind and wonderful ambassadors for our lesson program at Stillwater Equestrian Center and we are proud to have gotten them from Julie.

Copper Horse Crusade is truly the real deal. Their mission of saving good horses from slaughter and placing them in solid loving homes is embedded in the hearts of Julie Copper, her family, & the volunteers that help run this fabulous nonprofit. Each week they tirelessly attend the auctions of throw away horses that have had the misfortune of ending up at an auction where the kill buyers have their trailers waiting to haul perfectly good horses to Canada or Mexico for slaughter. Copper Horse Crusade saves who they can, provide needed love, vet care, nutrition, and dental care, while stabilizing them fully before finding solid loving homes for them. We got our beautiful, sweet Standardbred, “Yankee” from them in March 2024. He was a throw away Amish buggy horse. He pulled a buggy for 17 yrs! He’s the sweetest horse we’ve ever had! We are grateful, and our goal is to tell everyone we can about this truly amazing organization, & to donate what we can when we can, to support their mission. Look them up and TEXT Julie to go out to see their wonderful operation! 🐴♥️🐴♥️🐴♥️🐴
