Description The Wayne County Dog Shelter is located on Burbank Road in Wooster, Ohio. The Dog Shelter is responsible for taking in all of the stray dogs in Wayne County. They also take in Owner Released Dogs as space allows. The Dog Shelter operates a Pet Supply Pantry for those in Wayne County that are on assistance programs. They also offer educational opportunities for schools, 4h groups, and scouts. The Dog Shelter accepts volunteers that have gone through an orientation process. Those volunteers are then able to participate in the Dogs Day Out Program as well as a Holiday Sleepover Program. The Wayne County Dog Shelter has a 99% positive placement rate and is able to provide extensive medical care to their dogs through their Medical Fund.

The best place to get a dog!! The people are SO nice and we got the best beagle ever!! I NEVER expected to have a beagle. He (Chuck) is so smart, sweet, snuggly and just the best. I highly recommend this shelter.

Very accommodating, genuine love for animals. We took our puppy home after meet and greet. Caused staff to stay after hours. We are most thankful! You know him as Cheddar, we renamed him Magoo.

The Staff was very professional, helpful, and friendly. They really care about their pets. So if your looking for a forever family member, I recommend adopting from them.

One of the ladies had the audacity to deny us adoption because she didn't feel comfortable placing one of the dogs In a home with cats. This decision was based off of one temper test with the only cat they had in the shelter. we offered to bring ours which they initially agreed to, then called next day to deny us. When asked if they consulted a behavioral specialist or a trainer, they said they did not as they don't have the money. Then had the audacity to make the excuse that it's a breed only problem when there are numerous cases of it not being a breed only issue. Complete waste of our time.

We got our goofy boy from this shelter and the staff was super friendly. Adoption process was quick and they were very informative with what they knew about him. Very clean place. They definitely care about these animals and getting them homes!
