We recently adopted a dog there and were impressed with the facilities (the dogs had kiddy pools to play in!) and impressed that they seemed to genuinely care about the animals. We were nervous initially because of the poor reviews on here but those poor reviews have nothing to do with the actual shelter. Yes, they are hard to get ahold of but they are doing the best they can. The dog unfortunately didn’t fit in with our family situation and after a week of giving it all we had we contacted them and discussed our issues and they were more than happy to welcome the dog back with open arms. I was scared that the dog would be traumatized by being “sent back to the bad place” but she was excited to be back! She went and gave big hugs to the people there and you could tell she genuinely liked them which made me realize they take good care of those pups. Over all it couldn’t have been a better experience despite it just not working out for us. If you’re considering adopting, try them! Just don’t give up if you don’t get ahold of someone right away!

Called because of dog loose running back roads of Boonville. Was informed they only catch them in the city limits. They were very curt and not helpful at all. Great way to show compassion for animals.

Found an injured cat had to beg them to take him. Why does this shelter not take animals ? Isnt that the point of a shelter? Feeling confused
