The jerk who came and had access to this facility is a POS. We found a dog in the middle of the desert, while we were on our way to Vegas. I find it hilarious that you could only save the dogs at convenient times. He would not take the dog. He said it was OUR responsibility because we picked her up out of our heart of hearts so it was our responsibility. Iam so angry with your lack of respect and empathy for animals. Animal cruelty includes neglect and abandonment. When your civic duty includes the care and abandon animals and your position is “nobody told you to bring this animal here.” You have now shirked your civic duty that you swore to uphold.

Thank you, Barstow Humane Society, for doing so much with so little. People forget the economic and emotional costs of shelters and the heartbreaking choices these caring employees/volunteers make due to lack of funds or to provide mercy to animals they try to save. Shame on these comments that lack empathy and speak on the health of animals they haven't met. My family adopted my beloved Oscar from this shelter in 2008. We were incredibly blessed to have him in our lives. He lived a happy, healthy, and fun-filled life surrounded by people who loved him for 14 wonderful years. I would not be the same person without him in my life; I can only thank the Barstow Humane Society for saving him for me. Thank you so much, Barstow Humane Society, for the work of that you are able to do with so little contributions. I do not know how you do it. It is noticed and very much appreciated.

Wow. How is this place the “humane” society? We have paid out of pocket to fix several strays and the ONE time I bring them strays, they turn me away. I told them I’d pay any fee they had, and they still said “no” I’ve never encountered such rude, antagonistic Humane Society workers EVER. The facility REEKED of feces and urine. So cruel and INHUMANE. I will be reaching out to Humame Society governing board to report these women at this facility in Barstow, CA. TOO SAD FOR THE POOR AMIMALS. 😒🐱👎🏻👎🏻

Please adopt, donate or volunteer. The employees here work very hard to keep up with these animals it’s overwhelming . They have a great staff I don’t know how they do it.

came in expecting to see a well kept area for the animals but as soon as we walked in, there were flies everywhere and a foul smell filled the room. overcrowded cages with kittens, dogs, etc. everywhere, dogs running around behind the counter and the whole places seemed chaotic. i get that it's hard to keep so many animals in what seems to be a small building, but why take in so many animals if you obviously can't manage to keep the place clean to maintain a healthy environment for the pets? maybe more funding or another shelter is needed in the town but in the meantime i would not recommend supporting this place after being in there in person and seeing the living conditions for these pets + reading reviews about the stuff that has happened regarding this place! :(
