Looking to adopt a kitty to keep Paris company. Touched by a paw helped me pick the perfect feline companion for our household.

Submitted an application to possibly adopt one of their older cats and had someone contact me to allow my vet to give them info about my current pet's health. (A lovebird which is a parrot.) I never heard from them again. After waiting almost a whole month, I reached out multiple times (email and leaving a voicemail) and didn't get a response. After a few days, I finally got a hold of a volunteer who told me that I've been rejected because my "dog" was not up to date??? I don't currently own a dog and haven't in over 3 years. I only have my lovebird and a horse that I have boarded not too far from where I live. They're both up to date and very healthy (with different vets, of course, because they're very different species of animals.) I assume the mix up was in the dogs I had listed as pets I've had in my care in the past 10 years... (keyword: had) who had a different vet from my lovebird because his vet is experienced in avian care. (Also, I took my last dog to the vet her previous owner took her to because I wanted her to remain with a vet she was familiar with.) Anyways, the lady told me she would look over my application and call me tomorrow which was two days ago. I haven't received a call from them. Quite honestly at this point, I'm just gonna look elsewhere to adopt an older cat. I get a feeling they simply do not want someone like me adopting a cat from them. (A PoC.) They do take exellent care of their cats here as they are all very healthy and many of their cats are extremely affectionate. Just be aware of the potential hiccups that may happen during the adoption process. Very happy to see that Alonso got adopted tho so one extra star just for that. :) Update: Ended up adopting a cat elsewhere who I have taken into the vet twice already in the 10 months I've had him. I spoil him with perches, toys, wet food, and attention, knowing they will be with me for the rest of their life. (Pics provided to show quality of life.) It's rather disappointing that the people who work here will prevent their own cats from being in good care simply over precieved convictions.

I am so happy that I have found Janna and her wonderful and hard working organization. They are all angels taking the best care of kittens and cats in need. I have been blessed with adopting two beautiful boys three years ago and think of Janna all the time to thank her for her amazing dedication!

Everyone who works and volunteers here true angels! They put their hearts and souls into making every effort to make sure each precious soul is given the best care possible. They ask many questions about your family, your lifestyle etc., to get a good picture of who would be an amazing addition to your family. They truly love all the cats and want to be sure that they are finding the best possible family fit so everyone can live a happy healthy life. If you are looking to adopt a new family member or members, this is the place to go!

This is a really well run shelter. The cats are all very well taken care of, and it’s also a great place to volunteer. I do it on the weekends for just a couple hours each day and it’s the highlight of my week! All the cats are very well socialized and if I could I would adopt them all!

Horrendous way of running a business. I filled out an application and waited over a week and a half just to find out the information on their website is incorrect and false. The owner Donna, contacted me after all that time and told me "young people are too immature and inconsiderate, therefore should not be allowed to adopt". Her tone was not professional and she hung up on me. Not only on their website does it not say there is a age limit to adopt, visiting hours are incorrect, the staff/owner is very rude. How do they expect anyone to adopt from the shelter if you are not even allowed to visit the cats? The visiting hours open to the public are Saturdays 12-4....not everyone has off on Saturdays.
