day 5 (12jun24) sanctuary 11: good well-marked trail network through a variety of habitats. all-accessible trail with separate, dedicated parking area. extensive restoration projects to remove dams previously used for cranberry cultivation and replace with native grassland. foxglove in bloom near first restoration area. poor, infertile sandy soil mostly, so i was surprised to find swamp candles in bloom. lovely views throughout
Its such an amazing place to walk during a nice summer day. Please be respectful of this gem on your telravels !
Great walking trails with a lot of wildlife activity, we saw a ton of birds and one deer. Dogs are not allowed (since they'll likely scare off wildlife) but there are other trails in the area we take our dog to. My wife and I are definitely coming back to Tidmarsh again.
We saw probably 8 people and way more birds. It certainly doesn't look like it is a mile or so from the ocean. A well built blind could be a fabulous spot for more than 5 people to sit and wait for the wildlife to show up. There are picnic tables if you want to sit outside in a quiet area and enjoy a meal. We didn't walk the whole area, but what we did walk is an easy and enjoyable walk. We will be back.
Lovely trails, clearly marked and well maintained. Right off of a main road and easy to park. Porta John by the ridge trail. You do not need to be a MA Audubon member to use. Story walk currently available for kids; you read a book as you hike.
Seriously one of my favorite places nearby. Can't get enough. Going put there on your own is fun but the events you can attend, like owl walks, are also a blast. Living nearby allows me to be there all the time, and its great to be in some "untouched" nature.
