This is one of my favorite sanctuaries to visit. It has a lot of hiking trails that wind around little creeks and ponds through the tall beautiful trees. Not to mention the wildlife that you get to visit in their cages; owls, vultures, crows, a bobcat, coyote and let's not forget the eagles. It also has a pond full of turtles, beautiful orange fish and let's not forget the croaking frogs that are everywhere around the pond. There are also seating available for taking breaks throughout the trails. Brukners is definitely a sanctuary for relaxing and taking in all the beautiful surroundings. The only reason I'm giving a 4 ⭐ is the fact that there are no restrooms and/or port-a-johns. So make sure to tinkle before coming 🙂
Its been a long time since I've been here! Went on a Monday around 5:30 pm. No crowd at all! There were several trails to choose from displayed on a map posted in clear view. The trails are marked as well. There were animals to view along the trail which included birds, a coyote, etc. No dogs allowed which is understandable. The trails could probably get muddy after a rain and are kinda narrow. The website says they are open until 4pm but this is for the visitor building. Trails are open through sunset. This was a great experience!
Okay for $2.50 this place does have a lot of amazing things to see I just have two complaints. This place is really inaccessible. I have a one year old and I thought it would be nice to take her on a walk on the trails I put her in her stroller and it went well for a while. The trail is maintained fairly well but it was such a pain to get through. The stroller was tipping over because it’s uneven in some parts or getting stuck on roots and rocks which was fine it’s a trail I mean 🤷🏻♀️ but then we got to the part in the pictures. How is anyone suppose to get through here with a kid under 3? You’d have to carry them. I just think there should be a warning on their site that it is not stroller friendly. Even the building isn’t. You can see maybe six exhibits on the first floor but to get to the other floors you have to go up or down stairs. So if you are planning on bringing your kiddo who needs a stroller don’t. It’s such a pain. I had to pick up her stroller multiple times to get through the trail and then put it away all together to go in to the nature center.
Brukner Nature Center was GREAT! There's so many trails here. Definately a good place for excercise. Some of the trails are really steep which makes for a good work-out on the legs. And let's not forget the animals that are here. AWESOME! Definately a great place for children. They would love the different types of birds housed here. I will be bringing my grandsons next time. The scenery is really gorgeous. It's peaceful, quiet and relaxing. They also have seating along the paths which are needed for those steep climbs 🚶 I will be returning.
What a beautiful place to collect your thoughts and enjoy the sounds of nature. With well maintained trails and fun events for the youth.. the animal habits are also well maintained
Beautiful trails. Interesting they rehab animals although the coyote and the bobcat need to be released or they need to go to much larger enclosures!! It’s not good to see the coyote anxious and wearing a trail in the dirt going around in circles.
