I just left Long Beach Humane Society/Kitty Cove! The way I felt unwelcome I can’t even described! The lady I spoke about adopting a kitten or young cat had zero effort in her to communicate! (She told me it’s not a kittens season)! I felt I had a speech over there with a judge! I explained my situation at home as I have two fixed mainecoons (F & M). Her question was if they are indoor. ( she didnt care if i have a house or kids or work etc ).I mean I never ever saw outdoor mainecoon cats, so I say of course, they are indoor! The only way I bring my cats outdoor is only summer in my backyard with me where is all protected with fence and I assure her twice I do own mainecoons and my cats go backyard with me (for and hour or so), they are better protected than in jail! I made sure she understands my cats are safe and never go outodoor on their own! Of course that wasnt something she hear! Instead she kept going and going about cat don’t need to be out as they can see bird and run away. (Like I dont know that)! Anyway long story short/ my feelings I left from this place aren’t the one I was expecting from a place who is in need to adopt animals! Zero but zero effort from them to maybe show me young cats that might be a good fit with my furry household and try to find a good fit and recommend me no to bring adopted cat outdoor as it’s something they don’t agree or they recommend! I will definitely find some other place where they actually do give a some effort and appreciate someone who wants help animals to find forever loving home!🏡 I DO NOT RECOMMEND AND I DO NOT WANT TO COME BACK IN THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN!! Good luck with the beautiful souls over there and hope they will be able to find a home even though with this “professionalism” I didn’t had a good experience!! Ps: Pic of my two beauties 💕 💕 Ohh.. and I didn’t even mention the lady, that my cats go with me almost everywhere! lol ✈️ 🚘 🚂
No wonder why their rating is so poor!! Because me and my friend felt like we were unworthy of adopting a cat! All of the stuff had a sarcastic smile on their face!! They interrogated us like we were in a detention facility!! It seems like they want to discourage you for having a cat because they are a so called “ORGANIZATION “. Good luck finding “APPROPRIATE HOMES” for your kitty’s when you treat people so bad!!! Elite class of pet owners can adopt cats from this place!! If you have dignity please avoid this location!!!!
My friend and I encountered a disheartening experience at this adoption center. The atmosphere was unwelcoming, and the staff appeared to scrutinize us excessively during the adoption process. Their demeanor, accompanied by sarcastic smiles, made us feel undeserving of adopting a cat. The questioning felt more like an interrogation in a detention facility, creating an unpleasant atmosphere. It seems that the organization aims to discourage potential adopters, almost as if they prefer an elite class of pet owners. If maintaining your dignity is important to you, I would recommend avoiding this location for adopting a cat.
My daughter and I visited this kitten sanctuary and I have to say that this is the most clean and loved place of all. From the moment you walk you are greeted with welcome smiles and patience. The owner is purrrfect at her job she knows all of her fur babies by name and knows all cats personalities, she best matches you depending on your adopting needs. The adults cats are all very sociable and roam free purring at all the guest and the kittens are safe playing in their clean kennels. I witness the owner spoon feed some tiny kittens so that they gain healthy weight. I filled an application for a pair of kittens and I was asked all normal questions, all the kittens have been saved from high kill shelters or terrible conditions and I feel happy that the owner has a strong application process so no cat or kitten ever has to go back and instead is safely placed in a forever loving family. When you ask any members of the staff any medical question regarding a cats health they are very knowleadgeble speacially on the first months of their lives when they are very the most vulnerable they will let guide you and make sure how to properly care of your adoptee. Overall I recommend any family if you are thinking of making the life time commintment to adopt, also support this shelter as they are angels on earth for any 4 paws in need of love.
I recently fostered a female kitten and was left in pieces when I had to return her. I immediately wanted to adopt a female kitten to try and mend my shattered heart. I searched the internet like a "crazy cat lady" would and found Long Beach Humane Society. I called and was told I needed to fill out an application online, which I did......I received a call 3 days after stating that I needed to send my dog's medical records stating that he was neutered. They then approved me, I was so excited. The staff was welcoming and a bit hesitant at first, but after they saw me with a cat that I wanted and the connection we made, they were thrilled. Peggy is such a loving person, I can see it in the way she treats the innocent little lives around her. I feel better knowing that people like Peggy are present in this world. I can understand why she's the way she is about her little fur babies. All the ladies are amazing. This is a great place if you want to adopt a pet that's well cared for. Peggy even pleaded with me to update her on my little babies progress. She gave me her cell phone number, now that shows commitment. My baby's name is Joan and I Love her sooooo much.
The staff were very helpful, and they let us adopt this cutie.
