Definitely glad i made the trip from Port Angeles. They didnt hesitate to help my best friend snoopy as he had an infection on his face that worsen over a few days. Very kind people. The team made sure i understood what was going on. Did everything they could an it worked really well.
Very clean facility, quick great service, wonderful staff. My dog had to have an emergency surgery 3 days ago and is healing good and feeling better. We both thank you.
Can't say enough good things about the funerary services that this clinic offers. My sweet 10yo pup passed unexpectedly after hours and the team took such great care of us from initial phone call to the private reception room, paw prints, and optional memory services. Everyone was so professional and compassionate even late at night and I thought the fees were very reasonable. Thank you so much to the whole team.
I am so grateful for the care they gave to me and my dog. Lucy tore her side up really bad on a chain link fence and I rushed her to Animal Emergency. They immediately got Lu in and put us both at ease. They truly care. I cannot recommend these guys enough. Best vet experience I’ve ever had.
On 7/14/24, I drove the 70 miles to bring my cat Zarah in after she seemed to be struggling to breathe. It was really stressful. They presented me with list of tests they wanted to run and I was fine with it. We started with the X-ray. After the X-ray examination the vet, Dr. Burch, came in and said that Zarah had fluid around her heart, was in heart failure and that she looked like she had a carcinogen on her lung. She recommended I put Zarah down immediately. I want to note, no bloodwork was done at this point. Needless to say, I was upset. I will say the vet techs were very nice and comforting. They're the only reason this place gets two stars from me. The vet was very cold and seemed like she would rather be anywhere but there. She slammed a box of tissues in front of me after giving me the news. After speaking on the phone with my spouse, who was just as devastated, we made a decision to bring Zarah home so we could say goodbye. We had already made an appointment with our regular vet prior to this incident later in the week. We decided her regular vet should be the one to put her down. I asked that all records be sent to my regular vet. The vet strongly disagreed with this but gave us some heart medication and made a passing comment "I doubt she'll even make it on the car ride home." Well she did. And when we took her to see our regular vet 4 days later, she agreed that Zarah had a grade 3 murmur and heart disease, like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but found that Zarah was otherwise healthy. She said that the mass in her lungs was very poorly defined and there is no way to be certain it's cancerous. Blood tests were confirmed to show no signs that Zarah had cancer. Other than her heart condition, Zarah was deemed to be healthy. Vet records from AESC were only partially sent. A report was made and no xray images were sent to my vet and I had to call multiple times to get them sent in. Well, it's been almost 3 months and Zarah is still here. We just had a follow-up with her vet and another X-ray. The mass is still there but hasn't grown at all. It's the exact same size. Her vet said it was likely benign as we would have seen more signs of cancer by now. Her heart condition is mostly the same. Had I listened to Dr. Burch, I would have put down an otherwise healthy cat. Instead, I still have my girl here with me as we are navigating life with heart disease and she takes her medicine twice per day. Zarah's a pretty hearty cat and while I know the day will come when we will have to say goodbye, I have to say the work done that night was subpar and sloppy. I was given bad information that could have led me to prematurely killing my cat and I'm relieved it didn't come to that. Dr. Burch was extremely unpleasant to work with and in the future, I will drive further down to go to VCA Emergency Clinic than ever return to AESC.
Everyone from front desk, technicians and especially the doctor were wonderful, caring and professional. They took excellent care of my little guy when he got into a toxic substance. I was also very pleased with the price. I thought it was very fair, especially for an emergency vet.
