Description Heineke Veterinary Hospital in Alexandria, Kentucky was established in 1991 by Dr. Barry Heineke to provide professional animal care to the Northern Kentucky & Greater Cincinnati communities. His son, Dr. Brandon Heineke, joined the team in 2016 and in June of 2018 his oldest son, Nick Heineke joined the practice as Practice Manager. Our goal is to provide excellent service, a people friendly approach, in a family friendly environment, and the very best in medical treatment, so that you and your pets are receiving the attention you deserve each and every time.

Transferred my pet here after years of swearing by Grants Lick vet hospital. However after it was next to impossible to schedule an appointment without being months out, constant pushing of costly services, and the disaster when booking a boarding, I decided to look elsewhere, it was then we found Heinke Vet. Dr. Brandon and team are knowledgeable, friendly/personable and always checking in after the visit to make sure pets were doing well. In fact the first few visits were so great ended up helping my parents and grandparents move their pets as well. If there are any issues during the visit they are quick to get in contact and address it. Exceptional customer service from all.

Dr. Brandon and his staff saved my dogs life. He is compassionate knowledgeable and kind. Our dog, Shiloh, was seeing another vet but had been having symptoms for almost 5 months which went undiagnosed and were getting worse. In desperation, I called the Heineke Vet office on a Sunday and left a message, hoping Shiloh would make it through the night. I received a phone call at 8 AM the next morning and brought Shiloh in right away. After a full examination and an x-ray, he was diagnosed with megaesophagus. I was given hope that with proper care he would be able to thrive again and he has. Shiloh was 14 years old but has recently passed away. Even then, we have received so much support and encouragement through this sad and difficult time. I could not recommend Dr. Brandon, his staff, and the entire practice highly enough. Words cannot express our gratitude and how much it has meant to our family.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Brandon and his staff. He goes out of his way to make you/ your pets experience the best he can. He always takes his time to explain everything and answers any questions you may have. I’ve never felt like I was an inconvenience or like he was rushing to get me out the door and the next in. He genuinely cares about his patients and goes above and beyond to do everything possible. During a recent surgery he and his team called and updated every step of the way so I was never wondering. Theres no one else I would trust with my dog. I tell everyone with pets that they need to go to Heinke Vet and see Dr. Brandon.

We absolutely love Heineke Vet! Our dogs know the phrase “Do you want to go see Dr. Brandon?” and lose their minds jumping in circles on the way to the car. Doc is always great with our rabbits, too. The staff is fantastic and friendly. Everything is explained to us before, during, and after any procedure. We recommend them to everyone we know.

The staff at Heineke is far superior to any other vet I've used in the past. It's so hard to find a rabbit savy vet and there's no one better than Dr. Barry. He took such good care of my rabbi, Dobie and treated her like her own. He was compassionate and empathetic. he helped me make the best choice for her care. When it was time for her to cross the rainbow, it was done with dignity and love. I was allowed the time I needed and wanted in such a warming environment. I can't thank him and his assistant enough!
