Description We are our animals "home in between homes". We house dogs, cats & small mammals. All animals are cared for and enjoyed by our professional staff and dedicated volunteers. Cats have daily outside access, dogs have 24 hour outside access and our canines are walked daily by staff and volunteers. The Dog and Cat Shelter offers a Senior to Senior Program (Matching Senior Citizens w/ Senior Dogs) and a Stray to Service Program (Stray/Surrendered animals are handpicked for service dog training for veterans and people with disabilities). We are proud to be a 'home in between home' for our animals and are grateful that we can serve our communities elderly and veterans as well.

Was kinda let down. You can't meet any of the dogs. You look though a book too see what they have but the cats can walk around....they say it's because the dogs act up when people walk though....I volunteered at a few animal shelters and have never seen a shelter do that. I can see why some of the dogs have been there for year's. It's all just kinda sad. From what I could see it looked clean and the cat look happy and healthy.
Grateful for the services they provide! I didn't find the pet I was looking for right away but they were patient and helpful every time I was looking. After 1 1/2 years of multiple visits, they put me in touch with exactly what I was looking for and needed, the stray to service program. I'm currently training with my service dog and properly preparing to be her responsible owner! A blessing that I was happy and grateful for!!!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Dog and Cat Shelter of Sheridan Wyoming, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the moment I stepped foot into the shelter, I was greeted with warmth and kindness. The staff members were not only knowledgeable and professional, but they also displayed a genuine passion and love for the animals under their care. The dogs and cats at the shelter are truly special. It is evident that they are well taken care of and receive a tremendous amount of love and attention. Each animal has a unique personality, and it is heartwarming to see how the staff members go above and beyond to ensure their comfort and happiness. The shelter provides a safe and nurturing environment for these furry friends until they find their forever homes. In addition to providing exceptional service and care, the Dog and Cat Shelter of Sheridan Wyoming relies on the generosity of donations from the community to continue their important work. They understand the value of any kind of donation, whether it be financial contributions, food, toys, or time. It is inspiring to see how the shelter actively engages with the community, educating them on the importance of animal welfare and advocating for the needs of the animals in their care. I wholeheartedly recommend the Dog and Cat Shelter of Sheridan Wyoming to anyone looking to adopt a new furry family member or to support a worthy cause. The staff's dedication, the loving animals, and the shelter's need for donations make this establishment truly deserving of recognition. By choosing to support this shelter, you not only give a loving home to a dog or cat in need but also contribute to the overall welfare of these precious animals
Six years ago I went here and found Izzy Kicknwing my forever puppy. Everyone was so kind! This year we walked in the beach together for our very first time
I have nothing but respect for the folks who work at this shelter. They work very hard to find the best matches for pets that end up at their facility. I do see a significant problem with roaming pets in Sheridan, as well as neighboring towns. This puts a burden on a shelter that is not large and may not have an abundance of financial resources. **Update: after 2 years of waiting to adopt a small dog from this shelter and being told they would let me know when one comes in, I find I have been given the run-around by a couple of the women at the shelter. I am an animal lover and have picked up several strays in the Sheridan area and have taken them to the shelter. I even offered to keep one of the dogs until they could locate the owner, which they were thrilled to have me keep over the dog. Consider going to Billings or to Casper to adopt because at least you won't be given the run-around. I have just been approved by one of the out-of-town shelters to adopt miniature poodle. I only wish I hadn't waisted 2 years on this facility. Shame on the Sheridan Animal Shelter management here. I am a fantastic pet parent who has always rescued my pet family so this shelter messed up big time!
We recently adopted a cat from this shelter and I was very pleasantly surprised by the animal accommodations! It's usually sad to go into a shelter and see all the animals trapped in their little cages—it makes me want to save all of them. But visiting this shelter was a surprise. All the cats had free roam, and lots of furniture and toys. They had an accessible outdoor area too that the cats could freely access. We met the kitty of our dreams here and did a trial adoption to make sure he would get along with our dogs. We'll, he fits in perfectly. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. It took a little while to hear back about the cats we liked, but it all worked out great. I made a donation and I hope others will too even if you can't take home an animal!
