Humans when dropping pets off at shelters, do your homework. Gain self awareness. Be responsible and accountable for who you leave animal companions with. If a shelter has high rate of euthanasia, you need to understand the assignment. Do not drop off them off hoping they will "make it out". Put in the extra effort, network. There are plenty of networking resources that can help when you can no longer care for your vulnerable companions. Animals can not pick up a phone or ask for help. It's humans responsible to ensure safety.
Made my boyfriend feel welcome and ensured that our dog would be in best care and find a home for her. I had to stay in car for medical reason but off what he told me im sure my fur baby will be loved
I’m not supporting the one threatening people. That’s sad however Danville animal shelter is on a killing spree! When me and my wife went there to adopt a dog we were judge from the door. Not only that someone watched on us from the animal shelter from the street outside of our home. Me and my wife sat there in the shelter waiting for answers to adopt a dog and we hear people calling her transgender and just making fun of her based on the way she’s looked. We had our own shot records from our dogs and great reference. We were told we were not a good fit. That same dog had 3 other people lined up for him as well. He never found a good home instead he was euthanized. Tell me how do they do what best for the animal when they are all there just talking down on people?
I don’t know why this place has such good reviews given their kill rate statistics and animal living conditions. When I went there to adopt a cat, their cat room had too many cats who all looked sick. It was slum housing for cats. I felt so bad for the animals. I asked about their health at the front desk and found that most were on antibiotics for viral infections (which makes no sense because antibiotics don’t treat viruses. What genius put them on antibiotics rather than anti-viral meds which are very inexpensive and didn’t quarantine them?) I asked if they had other cats they said no. No wonder they were all sick because they had only one crowded room! If one gets sick, they will all get sick if you don’t separate them! I think the facility management could be much better than it is. One single bird in the foyer had more of a space-to-bird ratio than these poor cats yet this bird was a facility pet! This makes no sense! They also had merchandise for sale that took up space. It seems they have plenty of room to give the poor cats but just don’t do it. They are mismanaging their use of square footage for the wrong priorities. I am giving them the lowest rating because of their insufficient cat housing. They need to prioritize the cats over a pet bird (why won’t they adopt out the bird?) and over retail merchandise storage.
Wanted to adopt a cat. i live on a big farm, other cats, make my animals their own meals, etc. it is jackpot for any animal. felt like a criminal going through process-the staff really didnt want to have me adopt any cat-are they hoarders? the director is a unpleasant, dire person who gives off a off putting vibe
IF YOU WANT YOUR DOG TO HAVE A CHANCE TO BE ADOPTED, LOOK ELSEWHERE. THIS SHELTER WILL KILL THEM WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT. A friend dropped her dog off last week (7/24/23) because they were moving and couldnt take her. I had intentions of adopting her by the end of august when I move into a house (couldn't take her while in an apartment). I called to see if she had been adopted and, if not, I could begin the process of adoption...come to find out they euthanized her NOT EVEN A WEEK AFTER BEING PLACED THERE. Do NOT put your dog here if you care about them AT ALL. They do not care to give these animals a chance--not even a shot. Not even a week. Not a chance for anyone to call. If I had known, I would've gotten her out the next day and she could've stayed with someone temporarily until i could take her. But no. They didn't even give Ella a chance--just decided to kill her after a mere FEW days of her being here. This is a TERRIBLE shelter and obviously does not care for any of these animals. If you cannot take care of your dog any longer...please PLEASE exhaust all other options before putting them in a shelter. And if that is not a possibility, then look for a no-kill shelter or AT LEAST one that will give the dog longer than a WEEK to be adopted. We are upset and grieving and anyone employed at this place should be ASHAMED. R.I.P. Ella girl 😔
