Our dog Belle snuck out of our yard and was hit by a car. We thought our dog was going to die. We took her to VEG in Buffalo Grove where they stabilized and cared for her for four days. The staff and doctors were all skilled and very caring. I really appreciated that all of the care was done in the open. I could see how many people were working to save Belle’s life. She has a long road ahead of her, but she survived and her quality of life is improving each day. We feel so grateful and fortunate to have such a resource in our community.

As the Director of the Evanston Animal Shelter I work with several area emergency hospitals. I have had a few experiences at VEG and each time I have been impressed with their professionalism and compassion. Our interaction often involves an animal found in serious condition by a member of the public and brought to VEG with no history. Most recently that was an adorable kitten named Polaris whose front leg had been badly injured and she was in critical condition. The team jumped right in and treated this poor little orphan as if she were a cherished pet. She wouldn't have survived the night without the care of this amazing team!

Brought in our rabbit for emergency care when his regular vet was unavailable and recommended it. They were compassionate, gentle and thorough. I can’t thank them enough for the care they provided. I am so thankful we were able to come up with a treatment plan for pain management until our normal provider could see him. I highly recommend them for anyone needing emergency care.

Realized I had a sick chicken on a Friday afternoon. Any of our other chickens I would have tried to manage at home, but this is our (including 10 year old kiddo) FAVORITE chicken. I know chicken ownership comes with some lessons in the temporal nature of life, but I didn't want him to learn quite that tough a lesson with a 12 week old chick! The staff was amazing, took great care of us! Note to owners, it may be several hours just like a people emergency room, so bring your pet food if they will need it. There's a jewel right across the street though, so if they can eat fruit and veg, close option exists. Thanks so much! She seems back to normal!

Thank you times a million!!! I’ve brought my bunny and dog here in the past for injuries and I cannot thank the staff here enough. The minute I walk in the door everyone is on their feet ready to go. The promptness deserves its own praise as during emergencies, I never ever want to have to wait. Everyone there is always so kind and patient, listening to me cry and retell the story over and over again. I have never felt rushed being here. The care they treat each of my animals is top notch. Each pet is thoroughly looked over and given proper treatment plan. I really want to thank everyone there for their expertise and professionalism. I’m constantly being reassured that things will be okay and that my pet is in the best hands. They open 24/7 and even during the holidays, which is a godsend. I’m seriously so grateful for VEG and the service they provide for our beloved pets. You’ve got my business for life. Thank you!

Dr. Chernok was very kind, empathetic, and exuded a compassionate attitude towards me and my dog when he was handling my dog's case. He provided very helpful insight and delivered all the information in a professional and caring manner. I brought my dog here towards the end of June because I was concerned my elderly dog (15 years 8 months) had an intestinal blockage (her symptoms included brown, poop smelling vomit). Dr Chernok was able to confirm the blockage, however this facility did not have the capability to discern the nature of the blockage (foreign object or mass). He recommended I confirm with an animal hospital with a better ultrasound. I did confirm and unfortunately it was a mass growing inside her intestine. Surgery was not really an option I was considering due to my dog's age, the mortality rate, and the recovery. After I got those ultrasound results, I took my dog in to be put to sleep, and it was handled very well by Dr. Chernok. I am very grateful to all the staff at VEG who handled my dog's case, and I hope you all continue to provide great care and service to all pets/families. You were all kind and compassionate to me in a time of distress for me and my dog. Thank you.
