Description The UCAN City Mission is a network of emergency homeless shelters located in Chautauqua County, NY. We offer individuals in need a bed, two meals a day and a hot shower. Our purpose is to meet peoples physical and spiritual needs while assisting and encouraging those individuals to take steps forward toward stability, both in their life and their faith.

Ucan City Mission is currently under renovation as we speak. The reason behind the 3 stars is because I have faith in them that they will open the door sooner than likely unless they run into a problem. While they've been closed, The organization Called R.O.M.E, Recovery Options Made Easy has been a major success within the community of Jamestown at 31 Water St. They opened the a unit and created something else that wasn't expected, a community within the community. The Warming Center is what they call it. I've been staying here for 2 months and the reason why, is that the environment that the staff created here is something I've never had or seen. You have to see it and be the judge, but whomever walks through the doors are greeted with acceptance and respect by everyone here because of the structure that as a team, has created. A cup of noodles hot coffee or PB&J is the best thing ever when you're exhausted and cold. After everyone here noticed how hard they will go to make sure you are comfortable, the shelter immediately became something else that you felt safety and no one person was worried but instead happy. We all eventually bring in something for everyone if it's something you want to do. Nobody has ever asked us to do anything but about how to make it work to get the help with trying to stay open, because as all things shall pass, this has also. But let me tell you how hard the 6 or 7 staff members fought for the city to keep the doors open. When The city said close the shelter in a day or two without any notice the staff members fought in a peaceful Mannar and I had a place to sleep these past cold nights. But out of 25 30 individuals who has been a regular, only 3 are around now, all twenty something has transitioned somewhere else to start a journey that they will never forget those who pushed, inspired, and helped mentally prepare for with only being open since February. I can go on and on about them but my opinion I have told them was that I have been around and raised in a unsafe environment that I know was doing a lot on me mentally, I don't know how much I appreciate you all for the opportunity to have a piece of mind while we are out here in the streets. I've never seen anything like this ever, Thank you all so much for your help and hospitality. Dee, Matt, Kacey, Melissa, Jason, and the security staff. It's nothing I wouldn't do for you guys because I have no reason why I wouldn't, but I'm going to have a place for you all in the soul of this journey and continue to be a great person. Thanks for everything, peaceful sleep and not on the streets is the motto here you guys showed an entire community the Importance of caring.
I could feel the presence of joy, strength and hope. These virtues appeared to radiate from the men staying there. The light hearted demeanor of one particular employee gave me courage. I was never found wanting, clean and cared for I found rest from my trials. Peace filled my soul as my heart filled with hope. Thank you
The men here could have been me.Life can be cruel and no one knows what tomorrow may bring.UCAN is a a temporary oasis of hope for men down on their luck.I enjoy helping them in anyway I can.I have so much, and they have so little.Giving them shoes, socks, sweaters, and jackets is the least I can do.Having worked at Olympia Sports for the last seven years has provided me with an endless supply of clothes and shoes for these struggling men.I enjoy giving to others.
No good place to stay..they don’t have the love of God..
Met alot of nice people here and helped them get free phones through enough wireless
Most people here are amazing. Very accommodating, carrying, and knowledge about the resources available. Seriously check it out if your struggling, it's worth while
