We got a super cute kitten 8 hours ago. Staff was super friendly. After taking her home, during play time we noticed she had green boogies coming out her eyes. We cleaned her eyes. About 5 minutes later we noticed more. By this time all vets are closed so is the Humane Society. She got sleepy and took a nap. When she woke up her eyes were INFECTED! Of course I’m playing with her earlier without thinking she would have an infection. And yes I rub my eyes many times playing with her. Hope I don’t get an infection 🤞. Anyways I opened up her file they gave me. I thought she was gonna be a Healthy cat since she only about 7 weeks old. Her health sore was a 3. It’s my fault for not asking or looking at the papers before hand. But I’ll call the humane society tomorrow morning when they open to make sure they can have no other fur babies have an eye infection. I’m gonna take her to the vet first thing in the morning.
We adopted our little cutie from this shelter. Staff are very friendly and efficient. The adoption process is very smooth sailing! If you are looking to adopt, please approach this shelter.

If I could rate The humane society of Southwest Michigan a -10 I would. What a fiasco dealing with Amanda was. Even if you drive for over an hour to meet the dogs, even if you fill out the application and bring all the paperwork and pictures to adopt a dog, even if your references say great things about you she still won't hold the dog you are interested in. I had an appointment with her to drive and bring my dogs for a meet and greet in a room with the pup I wanted to adopt. When I arrived she told me the room was occupied and we would have to stay outside in an open field where my 2 dogs and the pup were not able to be unleashed to explore each other. She then suggested I could drive there yet again for the third time but she couldn't guarantee that the pup I wanted would still be available. Huh??? Why would I load up my dogs and drive over an hour again if the dog I wanted was given to someone else??? How ignorant can anyone be? Apparently when I called and questioned why the dog I wanted wasn't marked pending adoption like every other rescue I have dealt with I was "rude". Amanda has no business being in charge of adoptions. She does not know how to deal with all kinds of people and personalities. When I asked her twice why she didn't schedule my visit with my dogs on a different day and time when the meeting room was available she had no answer. Just that I was rude when I called and asked about the pup I wanted and because of that she wasn't going to let me adopt a dog. Wow, to just be able to decide that any time for any ridiculous reason --- what power that is. Sad thing is only the dog loses out on a wonderful home. Send Amanda packing. She doesn't belong there.😒
Robin was extremely rude on the phone, when asking a simple questions, and would not even give me any advice just hung up on me!! Update : To their message back to me, I was still taking to her no connection was lost, I was goin to ask if she had any location accepting kitten bc someone just dropped them off at a public lake access! You would think if they lost connection with me then why did she not call back? To double check, She told me how many cat were in the shelter, I said wow and I understand and I heard the phone click (hung up)
I adopted my baby girl. Very low barrier. I appreciated everything they did to make it a quick and easy process. They were super friendly.
