The former Adams County Animal Shelter, located in an adapted metal building was definitely in need of replacement. Well, the Riverdale Animal Shelter (new name) is even more than I could have wished for. Everything to improve the lives of animals in their care was thought of from, cat patios (for the social cats), outdoor play yards for the dogs, and really nice kennels that are roomy and easy to keep clean. I'm a volunteer there, and we are always looking for more. Check the website to see all the things volunteers can help with.

I went in to donate a bunch of puppy pads I had to buy for my late service animal during his unfortunate but inevitable end of life process which they help with AMAZINGLY and affordable! RIP Rocco Hardcore - You're up in Valhalla waring and feasting with our family and your ancestors loving every minute of it ❤️ I left with another 🦮German Shepard 🤪🙃🫠🥰 The ghost dog himself SHADOW has found his furever home! FOR PEOPLE THINKING OF ADOPTING PLEASE CONTINUE TO READ... I almost didn't even know about him! You go see the dogs in their prisons. j/k 😆 They have really clean and comfortable living for so many animals but the animals need your help!!! You get a small little form 📝and ✏️ with 5 spaces. Step 1 - Go see the animals and jot down their information You can do this online with most pets as well *** DON'T FORGET to try ALL DOORS *** (If you can open it, you're supposed to) Step 2 - Visit all areas for all different types of pets. NOT just dogs and cats and jot the animals info on your forms Step 3 - Visit only the animals you wrote down in their pens a 2nd time and various areas again but just the ones you wrote down, and just "X" off pets for whatever reason you decide best cuz you can only physically visit, maybe touch depending on their moods, 3 animals in one day Step 4 - Go to the interactive touch display (a HUGE touch screen TV in a 6" inch thick box on the wall by the dog area entrance) and scroll through those writing down who you want to see like you did with the other ones but then go visit those pets Step 5 - do this all over again for a final time and make sure you've got the 3 you want Step 6 - Keep all your forms with the X marked pets in your pocket and take the final 3 up to the attendants and go VISIT!!! I'd suggest keeping the ones who didn't make the cut cuz you sometimes you don't know if they're NOT jiving with you when you actually get physical time, the pet is actually taken, or unavailable that day. You can schedule or just go back with your lists like I recommended or whichever way you'd prefer. I hope that helps. Thanks for reading my honest review Dudemen, Guybros, Shechicks, and all the Manbear Pigs out there! ~~Texxx

From beginning to end, it was such a great experience. I'm in love with zion. Binks is not very thrilled yet with the new guy. But coming around, she'll be very happy to have a buddy over the next few years. Thank you for everything you guys are amazing. Patrick.

My sister and I went to just look around, and left with the sweetest Boxer/Chihuahua dog! I love that the pets are kept away from people, as they were all more calm than other Animal adoption services. They give them their first rabies shot, and a free first-time visit with a vet to ensure the health of the pet, and a couple of toys. Since we got him the day before St Patrick's Day, we named him 'Lucky'. It's been almost 2 weeks, and not a bit of trouble! Everyone was so helpful and informative, about what to expect, any thing to watch for, etc. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10 out of 10!

We have had the pleasure of adopting three of our family members from here over the last 5 years. Everyone here is so nice and helpful and knowledgeable. The volunteers are great to talk to and they take such amazing care of the animals.

These folks are great and the facility is excellent. We were given helpful information on immunizations and allowed to visit the adoption areas no questions asked. They have fun socialization rooms for cats and a lot of great staff helping out.
