I am so glad to recommend Red Barn. I was nervous to find a new "home" after relocating to Dahlonega, as our old vet was spectacular and made us feel like family. After an "ok" but disheartening visit to another vet in the area, I had to keep searching to find the best care for our five cats. Luckily, Red Barn was just a little farther down the road and it's safe to say we found our home! The entire staff from front desk, vet techs and the DVMs provide top-notch care. They're friendly, attentive, and highly skilled. In my experience, it's been easy to get in touch with them, they're prompt and professional, and they treat both the patients and owners with dignity and respect. I want to applaud them because they have a rewarding but difficult job! Not only are they caring for an animal, they also have to navigate the human stress and other emotions. I'm grateful to have a vet nearby who provides fear-free, easy routine care, and I would fully trust their practice in the event of an emergency.
2 years after Red Barn Veterinary Hospital (Dr. Schultz) mutilated my precious cats left ear following, what they called "a simple surgery" to treat an ear hematoma, there has been no improvement nor will there ever be. Don't send me some stupid excuses letter from the owner saying the outcome was my fault BECAUSE IT WAS NOT!! I never got any explanation for the negligent surgery because I was not allowed to speak with the doctor when I picked up my cat post op. Instead was insulted and accused of ignoring my cats post op condition WHICH I DID NOT! I took him immediately to another vet for evaluation and treatment. The new Veterinary Hospital was applaud at what Red Barn had done but said they "get many complaints about expensive not needed treatments coming from Red Barn." I do not recommend Red Barn for anything except rude employees and doctors that just want to get paid for the pet to suffer. Shane! Shame!
We’ve had dogs for years. Our dogs have had veterinarians for that same time. When we moved to this area, I tried several. All were good. Red Barn was excellent. The staff are friendly and caring. The doctors communicate well, discuss options, and explain expectations. Our senior dog received her care for over 8 years there, and at the end, they help us with the process. Our younger, now mature, dog was in for her Annual Checkup and a nasty hot spot. Annual went fine and the hot spot is back under control. East to recommend folks who do so well so consistently.
I wouldn't even take my pet flea here. They couldn't care less about the well-being of animals. They REFUSED to even see much less treat my dying dog. They labeled him as "fine" because he was able to "move" (even though he just had a stroke previous to us arriving) and sent us away. I'm sure the 'owner' will have some long bogus comment trying to defend their disgusting actions like on every other review, but if you care about your pet keep them FAR away from the red barn.
I can't say enough about how wonderful they are, the entire staff is absolutely amazing! I took my baby ( sorry crazy cat mom) Bob ( orange kitty ), to have his rabies and s steroid shot, they were so kind, gentle and understanding. I HIGHLY recommend! They are very affordable as well!
I would not recommend this vet practice. They do not care about their pet patients. My dog went to them 2 weeks ago and was diagnosed with a severe bladder and kidney infection and after spending $600 on blood work and xrays, they provided one week's worth of antibiotics. My dog started doing better but relapsed a week and a half later. When I tried to get them to see her, they would not allow us to bring her in right away and instead said they had an appointment almost a week later. When told that this was an active patient undergoing treatment with them, they just responded that they are busy and book up appointments quickly. It is not acceptable to refuse to accommodate with an appointment (or at the very least, a walk in) an existing patient who is currently undergoing treatment for an acute infections with them. That shows that they do not care for their patients!!!! Will never go to this vet again. I feel like they happily took $600 and then neglected to respond to my pet's medical needs when her condition worsened.
