I've had several less than satisfactory dealings with this place. Called this place to report a dog that had wondered into my yard and attacked all three of my dogs.. They told me to capture the dog and bring it to them?!? So I did and then they tried to guilt trip me for bringing the dog to the shelter. All while this dog was covered in MY dogs blood. They made me sign it over like it was my dog! Called it an owner surrender. The lady at the front wouldn't even get up from her chair.. She literally scooted her chair closer to the window so that she could reach the leash. I also called them to check on some dogs that were chained inside a fence. One of the dogs had hanged itself while trying to jump the fence. It was already deceased by the time I saw it. It took them several hours to come out and cut it down.. They left the other dog inside the cage with a chain still on it! The dogs were in 8 by 10 by 6ft kennels with no water or food, no shelter and it was 90 degrees outside. And you could clearly tell that they hadn't ate in days! They left the deceased dog with the owners that proceeded to dump it on the abandoned tracks behind their house. They never returned and the owners were never held responsible. Cherokee county needs to do better. Honestly if they can see animals like this and not have compassion enough to do something for them, then they more than likely don't treat the animals in their care much better. Hopefully they will get better staffed because the people working there truly suck.

My husband was being followed to work by a clearly abused animal so we called for help. Basically told my husband “yeah we don’t do that” and hung up. For this to be animal control, they don’t seem to care about these kinds of calls. Do better.

Just reported 6 dogs chained up outside someone’s trailer all fur and bones. Animal control officer called me back saying he was just there a month ago and there was no violation. He was describing a completely different property and was too arrogant to listen to anything I had to say.

Called an reported animal abuse on 8/12/23 an was told to call back in the mornin. So I did, they went to the resident an done nothin... now tell me why they didn't do anythin??? Wish I could post pic's of the poor dogs.

If I done my job like they do I've been fired a long time ago. They make up their own laws they don't enforce the laws in the books!

This front office worker is terrible the heaviest set lady at the front office literally made a comment that “we’re not here for the comfort of the animals or anything we’re just here for a check” with the worst attitude making it bluntly obvious she did not care about the animals and just sat there the whole time and talked this is very uncalled for especially in an animal shelter you guys need to teach her some manners or teach her how to respect animals if she’s gonna work in a shelter because the way she acted was pathetic normally when I hear about things I don’t care but these are living breathing creatures that did not choose to be here also she’s talking to real people she should at least keep her mouth shut if that’s really how she feels because obviously anyone coming in to adopt an animal cares about animals unlike her and may find this behavior offensive
