I like to concept of Habitat for Humanity and believe it does good work all around the nation! I am also a big believer in reusing or using materials that might otherwise be thrown away! I always try to hit up Habitat before a big box store. I have also donated many usable items both new and used to various Habitat stores in areas I have lived in. I really loved to come to the Sandpoint store and visit with Charles and my kids loved Blue the dog. Since the new manager has come on board the atmosphere is very different. It seems to be all about maximizing how much money he can get out of you. As I said above, I believe in what Habitat does and don’t mind supporting them. However, when all items are donated at zero cost I don’t expect to be charged new prices for items I get there. I think there is a middle ground to be had in relation to pricing and sadly the current management is not about passing deals on to their customers!
I love to browse through second hand stores and have a great appreciation for Habitat for Humanity’s Restore in the Ponderay/ Sandpoint ID area. We were in town looking for a few electrical items and found a treasure trove of handy items, from funky to unbelievable! If you need a light switch or switch cover for the back porch, why buy new if you don’t have to? Of course, the best items won’t last long like the Revival Koehler Pedestal sink with no less than $500 worth of Koehler faucet hardware. It was in excellent condition. I had two of those in my house and spent a bundle. The hardware alone for each sink was around $700 and there, at Restore, an exact sink with the exact hardware, sat! Wow! You may have to check back often for good stuff, but it does show up. One can never know when someone will dump a very nice chandelier or boxes of tile, etc. Another item I found interesting was a light oak TV stand in excellent condition. Anyway, it just fun to forage and don’t forget to say hello to Ellen, if she is working the front desk! If you appreciate my review, please click “Like”. Thanks
There use to be a great manager/employee who gave great deals and cared for the community. Now it seems the newest people are out to hustle those who shop here. Watched them Google shower doors that a elderly couple were needing and try to charge them $600 for the $700 dollar doors they Googled. As someone who donates and shops there I would like to see the people in need receiving the free items that they get in for a amount they can afford. Where is the humanity? Use to love it here. And now, I've walked out with nothing multiple times due to the outlandish overpricing
Hold onto your tool belts, folks - we've got a thrift store that's got home improvement written all over it! Habitat for Humanity in Sandpoint might not win any awards for cleanliness, but it's a DIY enthusiast's paradise when it comes to deals on quality materials. And let's not forget the friendly help - because let's face it, when you're elbow-deep in a DIY project, you're gonna need all the help you can get (and some moral support too, if we're being honest). So if you're tired of sifting through those other thrift stores that are all about clothes and media, and you're ready to get your hands dirty with some real home improvement goods, head on down to Habitat for Humanity in Sandpoint. Just don't be surprised if you have to dig through some clutter to find what you need - but hey, that's just part of the fun, right? So bring your tool belt, bring your sense of adventure, and get ready to DIY like a boss with Habitat for Humanity. Trust us, your wallet (and your home) will thank you.
I got a basic "HOW 2"" FRAME AND CARPENTRY BOOK THERE. 50 CENTS . THEY GAVE ME A 50 INCH LG television/flat screen on may 2nd 2023, just because I'm such a good guy. I think LoL. They are so helpful.
The gentleman who runs it is VERY inconsistent on pricing. Its whatever he feels like that day. Also Ive compared pricing to Home Depot and told him your price on this _____ is more. This is a restore supposed to help our community. He always has an excuse as to why this or that but Ive realized its whatever mood he's in that day. So sad as our community needs a place to purchase used items for cheaper. I now make the drive to CDA habitat where they are amazing!
