I've been bringing my dogs to Suffern Animal Hospital since 2018, and my experiences can be summed up thusly: Quality care. Compassion. Transparency. Two specific examples come to mind: (1) In 2019, an X-ray showed our lab had a partial tear to her ACL. When I asked about surgery, Dr. Sakolsky said that was an option and quoted $5,000. Based on our dog's behavior, I was hopeful she could be rehabbed at home with rest and anti inflammatory meds. Dr. Sakolsky didn't push or guilt me about the surgery and agreed it was definitely worth a shot to try rest and meds. And it worked! We saved a bundle and spared our senior girl an ultimately unnecessary surgery. Years later, when it looked like the end for our sweet girl, we met with Dr. Lessiak, whose expertise and compassion helped guide us through a terrible time. (2) Fast forward to 2024, when our hound puppy was feeling exceptionally anxious at the vet, vet tech Danielle suggested I bring him in for a "happy visit", where he got to slowly warm up to the environment while getting lots of treats and praise from the entire staff (shout out also to vet tech Melody). Overall, the patience and professionalism my dogs and I have experienced at Suffern Animal Hospital is why we keep coming back, and why I recommend them. Also, I find the fees to be very reasonable, especially compared to other vets in the Bergen County area. I was once charged ~$800(!) for a routine wellness exam for my lab by a local veterinarian whose name I will not mention. But it rhymes with Shmavanaugh.

The practice is very caring and shows great interest in their furry patients. Equally important it the expertise demonstrated with each type of animal. The combination puts me at great ease in coming here. I would highly recommend this practice to others!

For a first time visit to a Veterinarian in 30 years, I was worried, so was my cat, Beezer. Nothing at all to worry about. Everyone was friendly, kind, professional, and great with animals. The price was less than I expected, also. I'll be taking him back whenever he needs. Consider me, very pleased!

Our dog Chloe is always well taken care of when we visit. The staff are warm and friendly and show her a lot of love and attention.

Great staff and doctor! They love my fur babies and put my fur babies at ease especially my youngest who is terrified of strangers. My older fur baby LOVES coming here and is so excited. They really care for them and give advice on how to better take of my babies. They are great with scheduling appointments and always explain what they are doing. I would highly recommend!
