The facility and its personal are very inexperienced with older dogs who have never been boarded. I explained that and told them my dogs had never been boarded and were reactive to strange dogs and i heard they had a set up where they would not be exposed to that. They said they could accommodate that. That is very much not true, but that was my fault for believing them and not checking. The vet in charge apparently doesn't have much understanding on the difference between a scared dog and an aggressive dog. I had to board my German Shepherds,due to the death of my husband, they were told they had never been boarded before and would be scared. I asked if they could handle this situation and they said yes but that's not true but I learned a valuable lesson. Look at how the dogs will be left at night. Dogs not used to being boarded should not be left over night facing unknown dogs who can bark at each other all night unsupervised. The set up is not conducive to peaceful co existence. I don't think the dogs are treated badly the management doesn't seem to understand dog behavior especially inexperienced boarders. I did learn what kind of training my dogs will need in the future but when they told me, knowing I was only boarding them to fly my husband back home for his funeral ,only after an hour with an inexperienced older 1st time boarder who was scared that he wasn't welcome back, I was scared for my dog, unable to do anything about it and very stressed. I knew this was either run by a vet who I would never trust to treat my dogs and they are right he will never be back and I will never recommend him for boarding or vet care based on a lack of knowledge of animal behavior. I have raised, bred, shown and actively participate in AKC since the 90s and I was very clear when I booked them that they were older dogs who had never been boarded, i was assured they could handle this kind of situation and both dogs were traumatized, but because of the facilitys inexperience and lack of animal behavior knowledge and compassion for why they were there, I now know what they need in training, so I gues that's the plus in this situation.
