There is some really disturbing woman who "thinks" she's running the shelter. I'm not sure what your qualifications are? I believe you just have to be willing to put cat or dog down and that's it. The woman I dealt with today was one of the nastiest and seriously sry to say this but idk how else to say? WHITE TRASH, I have ever dealt with. She looked like she had just stepped out of pulling a full 16 hrs straight at a fast food restaurant somewhere. BUT thought she was dressed up. I could see the plaque all over her teeth. I'm really not kidding. Im not sure when I have been so grossed out. She was just rude to everyone that crossed her. Like she was on some kind of power trip. And then the guy behind the counter I'm not sure about him? He was just go right along with her..i never saw him get off his butt. They won't answer the phone I witnessed some disabled people wanting to come in and volunteer and she very quickly told them probably would not happen there was just to much paper work. Very straight forward very rudley. And she very rudely BUT in a very happy way told me that I would not be adopting a dog because the last time I adopted my husband and I had to bring him back. It had been little while so I didn't remember right off. But I spoke with my husband and the dog she was referring to was half pit. Beautiful dog, but soon as we got him home he wanted to kill all of the cats kittens and he did. We didn't have choice. So because of that we are blacklisted from the dog around. I personally think that someone that looks like her has no business working with the public. And so I think she should know I've read these reviews it seems most people think same as me. Our dog pound has a problem. The employee. I'll be bringing it up at the next meeting and I'll ask as many people to join me as I can. I won't stop until there is positive changes made there.

Was visiting from out of town driving down the back winding roads and came across two really cute dogs. Took about half an hour to coax them into my vehicle because they were literally scared, starving and so skinny. The people that work here are really nice . They were sympathetic to the animals and seemed very caring. I asked if they could keep them mama with the baby hopefully they were able to do that. If I didn’t live in Arizona I for sure would’ve kept them. They were a little angels.

The staff here is very unfriendly! Especially Roger, after he was rude to me he made his brags to the staff about how he treated me!!! ...word gets around!!! Both of the men at the counter that day were unfriendly. When I commented about them to my friend I was told I was lucky to have them, the woman is a lot worse. Idk I didn’t see her but if she’s worse than them the owners need to clean this place out! People are going to other counties to adopt pets because they don’t want to deal with these folks!

This is my go to place for dog license, getting my fur babies chipped and adapting. The director is wonderful and has made some good decisions and changes. They are all good with the animals in making sure they're all taken cared for and loved. They have exceeded my expectations with finding good homes and rescues for the animals. I just want to say that the Madison County Animal Shelter is by far the best care takers for these animals while they're waiting for their furever home. I respect them for what they do for all the animals there.

Rescued a cat from the street, very friendly and hungry. I didn't have room for it, but they don't take stray cats apparently. Not a REAL shelter I'm guessing. 🤦‍♂️😠

Typical government employee shenanigans: Staff appears to take random days off and outright close when they are supposed to be open; They often don't pickup the phone; The kennels are not washed often enough and the smell of urine physically irritates the lining of your nostrils. Please consider modified and communicated hours if you do not have the staffing to remain open 5x8, gas is expensive; consider a cordless option for taking calls; and finally; consider washing the kennels more regularly. If it's that bad on a human it's probably much worse on the animals. This is a textbook example of why people do not like bureaucracy; it creates dsyfunction b/c no one cares about standards of service; since there are no competitors.
