Description We are located at 30 Pond Street, Ashland, MA 01721. Our visiting hours are by appointment only. As an advocate for animal welfare, the MetroWest Humane Society is focused on the well-being of cats in the MetroWest Boston Area. We strive to find loving homes for adoptable cats, to provide care for cats before adoption, and to reduce the feral/stray cat population. The MetroWest Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We accept financial donations as well as donations of pet supplies like food and litter, and day-to-day shelter supplies like cleaning products. We also have many types of volunteer positions available.
A wonderful service with a super friendly staff helping with cat issues in the area
If I could do no stars I would. I recently tried to adopt 2 kittens and after the meet and greet with the kittens in their foster home and a plan for the adoption to go forward I received a text saying my spouse and I did not seem enthusiastic enough 🙄. Someone willing to pay $500 dollars for kittens probably wouldn’t do so if they didn’t really want the kittens. My advice to your shelter. Don’t have the meetups at the fosters house especially with children involved. The family although lovely and the kids very sweet monopolized the kittens and made it difficult to interact. It was also extremely awkward because the kittens were kept in a bedroom upstairs. I’m not impressed with how your staff dealt with us . I would never recommend you to anyone. You’re doing those animals a disservice and robbed them of a good loving home. Very unfortunate
I stopped in this afternoon hoping to learn more about the cats that were available for adoption. We felt that the employees/volunteers were very disinterested in helping us out from the moment that we walked in. The four women who were there were sitting in an office chatting. We were not greeted, no one got up to introduce themselves, and no one volunteered to show us the available cats for adoption. We walked into the office (since no one got up) and we explained what we were looking for in a cat (ok with other cats and dogs, friendly, etc) and one woman said that there were no cats available who fit that description. It's completely fine if there genuinely are no cats that fit that description right now, but the entire experience made us feel unwelcome and that they really didnt care if the cats got adopted out or not. One positive factor is that the environment was clean.
One of these days I will get a cat! I visit Often and always drop off a check. There is this house cat who roams around there and looks a bit scruffy. Do not attempt to pat him! Lol. The staff are so caring and the cats all have their own little personality.
This is an amazing place with amazing people. They take excellent care of their cats and do a spectacular job when it comes to spaying and neutering, caring for ferals, reintegrating them... They always need volunteers and donations (fancy feast, bleach, etc), so please help if you can!
I volunteer here great people and atmosphere. If you love kitties they have a great adoption program. Cats are adopted fairly quickly and they are NOT a kill shelter.
