I had a similar experience. I haven’t owned a dog in over 15 years. As a previous flight attendant and then travel nurse I didn’t have the time. Now that I’ve been back home for over three years working locally; she found that hard to believe at my age(her words); that I wouldn’t have a dog sooner. So I was denied; even though I own my own home; and more than financially stable. That was on January 8, 2024. We decided to go to the Humane Society of Tampa on January 13, 2024. The intake coordinator was absolutely wonderful. We received a wealth of information regarding our fur baby. And we were not asked intimate questions if we would allow our dog to sleep in between us or jump on our furniture as part of the intake process as Carol asks. I even take Chip to their vet facility for his well visits. Best decision made! He’s the sweetest and most loving. For those that live in an apartment; do not let being denied because of the type of housing you live in detour you from providing a happy home for a rescue in need. No where in any Florida law does it state that anyone living in an apartment can’t adopt an animal. That’s Carol’s own bias. Best of luck!

Carol is extremely rude. Every reply was as though I was bothering her then denied me because I have children. Stated that I was not putting the puppies safety first because I have kids 7 and 10. Kids are not allowed to have puppies according to Carol. Horrible experience from start to finish. After reading all other reviews, I’m not surprised that I was the only one that had a terrible experience.

If I could give them zero stars, I would! Their adoption application is absolutely ridiculous. Carol, who I am assuming is the rescue owner, was not even willing to speak with me on the phone. She tried to accuse me of crating a dog all day like an animal abuser. I have one happy, healthy adult cockapoo who does not even have a crate. This rescue is denying dogs in need of a safe, loving home an opportunity. DO NOT use this rescue!

Carol is unprofessional. I filled out the application properly, provided vet info on only living dog in the house, but it’s under my mothers name. It’s (our dog), sent heartworm/flea proof. And years ago, my two dogs I’ve lived with/cared for, but we’re technically at the time girlfriends dogs. So no records under my name. I guess this was a huge deal for Carol, because she had already decided, even though it could have all been easily explained. Then I began to inquire if my mother, (who has records under her name) could fill out her own application. She said no… I’m just trying to adopt a dog, or puppy… and it’s sad that your rescue is unwilling to solve a simple misunderstanding (on their end). And yes, as the other reviews say, they will say anything to deny your adoption, my golden doodle puppy, (less than a year old) was too big and they were “looking for a home with no large dogs” for cockapoo puppies.

These folks are great!! We adopted our fantastic dog Luke from them. Luke is a 6.5 year old cocker spaniel that was surrendered needing extensive vet care and grooming. Florida Cocker Spaniel Rescue made sure he had surgery for a wound on his side, a dental treatment, grooming, etc. Like many groups they required an application, checked vet references and would've done a home check though, in our case, pictures sufficed. When approved, they brought Luke to our house from Orlando. Thanks so much to everyone at Florida Coastal Cocker Rescue for all the dogs you take care of and help get into the right homes. Love from Luke and all of us!!

Absolutely appalled right now. Called here to inquire on a puppy I’d seen on petfinder ( should’ve read reviews First) Carol was rude from the moment she answered as if I was bothering her. She told me I must have another dog to adopt this one, to house train it??? Isn’t that what I’m for? I wish it’d be that easy that the other dog would house train the puppy. Then she said I couldn’t adopt because I have kids that they’d hurt the dog, never did she ask how old my children are. She was very rude and presumptuous. Unbelievable she is still an organization. Obviously from the reviews she isn’t looking to home these animals just trying to collect money from donations.
