I went into the adoption Centre for the first time with my partner this weekend. The girl that came to open the door and let us in was very nice and great to talk to, but it was very hard to tell who actually works there versus who is coming to looking at animals. I was also really surprised that RAPS has donated food given to the cats/kittens here. I found the overall experience not that great. Staff have lack of knowledge about certain things. I owe 3 cats and which were all adopted through VOKRA and I think that’s where I’ll be sticking with.

This place is heaven on earth! Lol If you're a cat lover, you must go visit these lovely felines. The volunteers are super friendly, really knowledgeable and welcoming! I am hooked and fell in love with this baby Dodger, one of the indoor cats, and I will definitely be back for more snuggles!

I looked online to see if raps was open. It said it was open so I went there, when I got there the gate was closed. The sign on the gate said "closed to the public". I think they should update their website to "temporarily closed" to prevent confusion in the future. We went there today to see what's up to adopt. nice place with friendly staff.

Beyond disappointed with my misleading and disheartening adoption experience with RAPS this week and will not attempt another one with them. For a cause that’s meant to find forever homes for underprivileged animals, they sure make it unattainable ! I do not recommend RAPS at all if this will be your sole pet. I respect that RAPS believe they’re acting for the animals, but surely some compromise is a way to break the chain of foster care and provide adoptions for life which I thought was THE GOAL. Kasha was the highlight of this experience and was incredibly professional and friendly. She took the time to get to know us as people, and even forwarded our application and letter to the managers as processing applications takes a while and she knew we loved this 6 month old black kitten ! We were especially excited he was harness trained already so we could give our potential future cat a life time of enrichment and adventure with us after work, on weekends, and trips. 5 days later I spoke with the manager Shayna. She runs through my application with me, with concerns of our work hours and lack of company on work days in the kitten stage, but nothing about a mandatory 2nd cat. She calls my great references, and gets back to me the next day. She now tells me our kitten needs to be homed with a 2nd cat/ kitten which was not specified on his RAPS info sheet at the pet shop. He also didn’t have a profile on their website due to vague reasonings from a prior adoption. This completely caught us by surprise and felt pressured to make a big decision. Up until this moment, this lack of information led us to believe we were a “perfect match” to use their words. Though I was rudely contradicted in my next phone call; I am certain I was told this situation was flexible and 2nd kitten could be temporarily fostered while both are young and need extra company while we’re at work. My spouse and I agreed as this sounded humane and reasonable. This happened to be another HUGE miscommunication on their end. There was even more confusion about the specific kitten we were suggested to “foster” with our adoption. I spoke with Valerie the next day and she was condescending and callous from the start; A poor quality for someone who’s work requires compassion, PEOPLE SKILLS, and understanding. My conversation felt more like an interrogation and like I was irresponsible and cruel for even suggesting what I thought I agreed to could be a possibility. We became known at that busy pet shop for handling, loving, and being the only people expressing interest in this black kitten, who are proven to less likely be adopted, for 3 weeks. Instead of coming home with us he is leaving the pet shop for another temporary situation. We have been denied because we cannot accommodate 2 cats long term, and work regular hours outside our home despite being an otherwise “perfect match”. This is the reality for many loving homes and its devastating to think of animals spending longer than necessary to find the stability they deserve. Would have given three stars but the treatment from Valerie in particular was atrocious. It IS possible to be a respectful yet firm advocate for animals, while still being respectful towards people; Ask Kasha. We’re coming to terms with how this cat we fell in love with out of the blue is now out of our lives due to disorganization and lack of communication on their end. Loss aside, I hope this kitten finds a forever home one day with somebody who meets all of RAPS standards.
