We hadn't boarded there in quite some time and this place really disappointed. It was the best place several years back and I don't know what happened. I dropped off my two pups with farmers dog food already packed and I wrote down the instructions. A week later I retuned to pick up them up and the kennel didn't feed the dogs the food I instructed them to. When I asked the person there that day they couldn't give me an answer. They have me the number of the manager and I called. I was upset and was giving the manager my grievances but she kept stepping over my words. She mentioned that the dogs were feed and that it was an honest mistake. When I tried to explain why I was upset she said "I'm not going to let you talk to me that way and I'm gonna hang up, and if don't ever kennel your dogs with us." I kept telling her to allow me to finish and she hung up on me. On my way home i realized I just left their blankets and bowls so I sent her a text that I wanted to know if someone was going to be there so I could pick them up. She went on to say that she apologized for the mixup and the food they use was high quality. I didn't want to engage anymore and I just simply was asking if someone was going to be there so I could pick up the bowls, blankets, and beds. I did go back to pick them up. The issue with the food is that dogs need to properly and slowly be acclimated to new food. Anyone who owns dogs should know, especially someone who manages a kennel. Also the refrigerator they use to store the food wasn't cold enough to maintain the dog food and some of it spoiled and farmers dog isn't cheap. Furthermore, one of my pups had diarrhea for a couple of days. At the end of the day, the manager should have allowed me to vent. I was upset and had every right to be. I wasn't disrespectful nor did I use profanity but a good manager will allow to complaint to evolve until the finish because what most people want is to be heard. I miss how great that place was. Disappointed...
I feel like I need to share this amazing experience I had at VIP pets in town. While I know their boarding can be a hit or miss, their grooming services are amazing. I had previously taken my Del Rio mutt to petsense and he was so traumatized from the grooming experience there that he hid under our kitchen table for 3 days. Apparently if dogs are being fussy there, they dry them off in cages with giant hair dryers. They also used a brush to get out his mats instead of shaving them off, likely causing him a lot of pain. Over the weekend I took him to VIP pets for a full groom. He was the only appointment of the day because the groomer likes to dedicate 1-2 hours per pet. He dedicates so much time per pet because he wants to pause and give them space whenever they get too freaked out or upset and comfort them instead. The groomer stayed 30 minutes late because my dog was extra nervous. Not only was it cheaper than petsense, but my dog has not acted one bit different since we got home. It's been 3 days since he was groomed and he still smells like baby powder - it's amazing. Also - my dog was so excited to see me that he fell off of the grooming table trying to jump off of it and he bumped his leg. He's completely fine but I woke up this morning to a call from the groomer who wanted to personally check in to make sure my dog was okay and wasn't hurt. I am in awe of the compassion I experienced here! If you need a place to go and you don't love petsense or they turned you away because your dog is "aggressive," please give VIP pets a chance. A full groom is only $54.
I board both my cat and dog multiple times a month at VIP (whenever my husband and I are out of town). I have not tried out their grooming services, besides nails trimming during one of the boarding trips. The service was satisfactory and I had no complaints. I definitely have complete trust when boarding my pets because they are always clean, healthy and well-fed when we go to pick them up. Besides missing us, both of my pets enjoyed their stay. My puppy has even grown to really like the front receptionist and is very excited to go ! The staff has always been very nice to me, but it’s because I’m nice to them back. I hear these review complaints about how the staff is defensive/hostile, but you can tell from the post that the reviewer isn’t very nice to deal with. When you threaten legal action or harass staff, employees have the option to decline services/shut down. I have my pets groomed at PetSense because they are very close to my house. So if you have worries about the grooming business, I’d recommend trying PetSense. Overall, this is a very nice business to board your pet with, especially if they feed multiple times a day/on medication/have a high social need.
We like the facility! It has indoor and outdoor space and secured. Is perfect!
Have used them 3 times now for Boarding my GSD named Thor. So far I haven't had any issues at all. Staff seemed nice every time. After the 1st Boarding one of their Staff Members informed me he was moved to a Kennel with a Topper and to request one for future Boarding. Thor needs some more training but he was a Rescue Dog when we got him and so far no issues with him there. Every time I get him back he seems himself also which is a good sign.
This facility is a great facility. They’ve worked with us on last minute boarding appointments which we’ve had to make for family emergencies or the birth of our son which we chose to travel to San Antonio for. They have a great and large facility and the front desk is always very kind. We love boarding our dogs here
