Had a fantastic time here. Watched the live elecam while learning about the elephants. The lady who was there was incredibly informative and helpful. She answered all of our questions, and all of the interactive learning was so fun! Bought some fun merch, and we are hoping to donate to help support these wonderful elephants! It's a great way to spend some time here in Hohenwald.
What a wonderful place to learn about these majestic creatures and all they are doing for them. My children were obsessed with the exceptional displays of facts and the learning environment. What amazing work they are doing for these beloved animals. I hope everyone gets a chance to visit!!!
Nice place to visit and learn information about the amazing animal.
What a wonderful experience to have happened upon the elephant sanctuary. We never think about the majestic elephant or how much help they need once they retire from the zoo and circus life. It should be a mission of all of us to help them live in such a peaceful place and be taken care of by such a wonderful group.
Y’all this place takes their work seriously. Attended the USPS Elephant Forever stamp first day release today! The center is bare of fancy furnishings, and perfectly in tune with focus on the Elephants and protecting their Sanctuary. Friendly people! This place is something to see for sure!!
the Elephant Sanctuary is home to many retired circus elephants so they can live out their lives in a beautiful peaceful setting on over 2,200 Acres. They have a Discovery Center right downtown where you can learn about each of the elephants that are out there and even watch the elecam that is a live feed of the different areas the elephants live in. There is a habitat for the Asian elephants and one for the African elephants and one for the elephants that are quarantined because of their exposure to TB during their circus lives. But you can learn about them, watch them on the video feed and enjoy a lot of interactive exhibits there as well as talk to the people working there that are experts on everything about these elephants. You'll probably end up with a few tears in your eyes when you think about the sad life these elephants had when they lived chained up and only got off those chains when they were in the circus arena, but now they have thousands of acres to roam freely on and the most amazing medical staff and caretakers that give them the life they deserve so they can live out their natural lives in peace and comfort. You do not get to see the elephants other than on the video feeds so they are not disturbed in any way but it is still worth the trip out there to go to the Discovery Center and enjoy the beautiful little city of Hohenwald. one of the residents there is surely, the third oldest elephant in North America. She just celebrated her 70th birthday a few months ago at the sanctuary. You can even adopt an elephant and help with the ongoing process of feeding them and helping to pay with some of their medical needs and their vitamins. Every dollar makes a difference at this amazing facility.
