Great experience at Lafayette Veterinary Hospital! Dr. Clifton is wonderful. She is very thorough and asked a lot of questions to pinpoint our canines concerns. The support staff was great as well. Very welcoming and a clean environment. The communication from the office is fast too and I really appreciate that! Thank you LVH and Dr. Clifton! Highly recommend.
We have been so happy with the staff members' expertise. They have taken such good care of our quirky Buzz who likes to get into things he shouldn't. Buzz is 12 and they are keeping him young and frisky. The staff is also friendly and puts us at ease.
These is ONE good vet at this hospital. That vet is the reason we started going here. All the others are the reason we will not be back. I don't believe naming names will help anyone so I won't. I've worked in hospitals for almost 20 years as a care provider and that has given me a pretty good sense of what a bad doctor looks like. The easiest red flag to spot is over ordering. A bad doctor will order every test in the book because they aren't able to use good clinical gestalt to know that their patient doesn't have West Nile Virus so, they test for it. This is my experience at LVH, many times, with different vets. The problems with this practice, is A, it's all comes out of my pocket and B, a simple blood draw or xray often requires my dog be sedated. Which is a whole new huge charge AND my dogs always have a horrible reaction to the medication. I explained this to the last vet we saw when I told them we had a clean urine sample (I KNOW how to get a clean sample), and they said, "I think we should make sure and draw one here." Which entailed sedating my dog, and sticking a needle in to her bladder to withdraw urine. Now, I don't really care how safe and routine this process is. The fact is, it's an invasive, expensive and, most importantly, UNECESSARY procedure that they wanted to do with no good explanation. I said no and they looked genuinely upset and actually argued with me about it. This is just one example I've had with all the vets here except the one. THAT vet is always booked almost a month out and all the others have availability typically with in 1-2 days. Now you know why. Well, I've had enough, it's been almost 3 years and we're moving on.
My dog was misdiagnosed and after taking here two different times for an issue, we were recommended to continue to watch her. We took her to another vet, where we were immediately recommended to get X-rays and became aware of a larger bone deformity/issue. Lafayette vet hospital only recommended surface-level biopsy, which was not sufficient for diagnosing the true issue, and never recommended an X-ray.
I 100% recommend LVH. Dr. Kelly has cared for both our cat and dog for years now with thoroughness, thoughtfulness and a breadth of knowledge. She listens and collaborates to foster trust and ensure the best care possible.
The care we receive for our 3 cats and 2 dogs has always been thoughtful, caring, thorough, and informative. The Doctors are wonderful, making one feel not only comfortable, but confident in the care and treatment provided. From the front desk, to the Vet Techs (also quite knowledgeable and caring) and back - a very good experience!!
