Striegel Animal Hospital is THE premiere veterinary clinic in Southern Illinois. I cannot say enough about them! I have literally taken my cats to ALL the other vets from Anna to Marion and Carbondale and can honestly say that Striegel’s is the best. My cat Louis suffers from chronic digestive issues that none of the other clinics came close to diagnosing. Dr Doggett was able to pinpoint his problem after the first appointment all the while being conscious of the cost to me for both the diagnosis and the treatment. When I was unable to attend one of Louis’ appointments in person, she took the time to contact me at work while my husband had brought the cat in for the exam. Dr. Doggett was extremely thorough in explaining his condition and treatment options as well as what I could do should his condition worsen after hours. What a blessing and a rarity these days to find a vet with after hours emergency care!!! Most recently I brought both cats back for their annual check-up and shots. Imagine my pleasant surprise when the tech, Summer and Dr. Long spent an incredible hour and 45 minutes caring for my fur babies!! Both Summer and Dr. Long were incredibly kind and patient with my “spicy” Cricket and compassionate toward sweet Louis. They also made sure I had an opportunity to share my concerns and ask any questions. To top it all off, after every appointment my kitties have had, I’ve received a follow up call from the clinic to see how the cats were doing! Needless to say, I highly recommend Striegel animal hospital. If you are using any other veterinary clinic other than Striegel, I truly believe there will come a day that that poor choice will be a detriment to your pet’s health. I know it was for my Louis. I am most certain Striegel Veterinary Hospital saved Louis. 💕

Well I just tried to make an appointment for my new kitten that I’ve been having some issues with and I’ve already been worried about her and stressing myself trying to figure out what’s been going on with her and with working night shift and medical bills I just haven’t been able to get her in as soon as I could but anyways I just called and spoke with Debbie I believe or something around that nature and i started off by giving her my name and my telling her my reasoning of calling which was to schedule an appointment for my kitten that has never been seen before (I’ve never made an appointment at the vet so this is all new to me already) and she instantly goes “our earliest appointment is Friday” with a slick attitude but I payed that no mind cause I just want to get my cat seen at some point, so I asked when was the earliest appointment that day and she goes “well I will have to look” and once again I disregarded her tone because once again I just want to get my kitten seen but anyways she informed me that there would be a 60 something dollar fee to set an appointment and I’d have to have it by 5 or so this evening so due to the fact I work Friday and don’t actually get paid til tomorrow I just went ahead and asked what about next Wednesday morning (thinking I could send that fee maybe tomorrow or Monday since it wasn’t until Wednesday that I could get in) so she gives me a time and I say “I think I can do that” (thinking to myself “I do work the night before but I bet I can stay up long enough to get her there that next morning) and she goes “well do you know if you want it or not” with a smart tone once again and quickly while I could answer her she talks about the fee again then says okay and then at that point I just let her know that I would just try to make an appointment tomorrow when I actually got paid so I knew I had money … and what did it for me is when she was concluding the phone call I was actively listening to her and the words I used were “okay” and then after a few more words I said “mhmm” and after I said that she stopped her sentence and mocked me and then we ended the phone call…but to conclude my review I just feel like I was bothering someone by asking about an appointment and I know this facility has more patients and not having my kitten as a patient probably doesn’t affect the facility but what I will say is I called this place hoping someone would help me get through this process smoothly and inform me about certain stuff because I’ve just never dealt with a vet before so I was extremely discouraged by my experience but another vet close by was able to make an appointment for me and she made sure she explained everything to me professionally (without sounding like she answers the same questions every time someone calls and was annoyed by the questions I needed answers too) so I was prepared all around the board …but yes this may be a very nice facility, I just hate I wasn’t even able to make it past the phone call.

What can I say! I wish there were more stars for a start! I have been so impressed with the care all at Striegel Animal Hospital have taken of my new kitten Pippa, I know she is in safe hands every time she is there, (which let's face it has been way too many times in her short little life so far!) Owners can tell when a practice genuinely cares about their patients. These professionals do 100%. Thank you!

Took my cat in for an emergency check up. They fit her in their busy schedule and got her taken care of. They are super kind, calm, and compassionate and put my mind at a lot of ease when worrying about my kitty. They are very up front and honest and it truly feels like they love and care for all animals. My cat, poppy, ended up being perfectly fine and they sent us on our way with her being treated with everything she needed. Definitely recommend taking your animals here!!!!<3

Absolutely the best vet in Southern Illinois! They're a caring, calm practice that Yorick actually looks forward to going to. The vets and team are extremely knowledgeable and can take care of all needs from routine care, illness, injury, and even getting Yorick's passport stamped for travel back to Europe. I'm really glad they're adding emergency hours so I know we're in excellent, compassionate hands should the need arise. When my mom and I needed to help our cat Sam cross the Rainbow Bridge, Dr. Doggett was there with us to give us the time we needed, while explaining the procedure and timing with such care and humanity for a difficult but necessary task for our beloved family member. When my sister's dog was diagnosed with coonhound paralysis, the team went above and beyond to help us with physical therapy, water therapy, and medications to try to reverse an uncommon condition with little to no literature or research available. Rory made a miraculous 100% recovery in no small part due to this veterinary practice. They set a high bar for veterinary practices and even though we live in Scotland now, Yorick and I continue to trust Striegel with everything and do his routine care whenever we come back.

I have been terrified of taking my animals to the vet since I had a horrible time with the passing of my 14 year old pittie girl at our old vet. Let me tell you this place is so much better!! They took amazing care of Leo. Friendly, caring, and knowledgable staff. Calming diffusers for him, soft music playing, they even let him play in a cabinet how he likes. Absolutely love this place and I plan on making this my other fur-baby's new vet as well!!
